****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Not sure on the differences between the firmware, I think Gadget check said the battery is better on this version but its too soon for me to tell.

I find it hard to agree with that. vanilla LPB was superb for me, no major issues and regular >24 hour battery life - easily as stable as any other rom ive tried. I'm on vanilla LPH now but im sure that's more of the same.

goldeneye's poor on mine for whatever reason.

Thats cool everyone experiences different things.

I checked out Checkrom V6 briefly, but no theme support through the kitchen yet. Anyone tried simply flashing ICS Domination? :)

ICS domination 2.0 is out tommorow at somepoint

Just flashed the Wiui rom as I fancied trying ICS and I had it on my SD card as I was going to try a few before going with CheckROM after mark suggested it.

must say ICS is very pretty , not tried face unlock or any of the new bits yet.

Is there anyway to stop the phone from locking itself? Ideally I'd like to have the phone on my desk and then from time to time I'll just tap the screen and it'll show the home screen. Then I can manually lock the phone by hitting the lock button. Is this possible without rooting?

What have you experienced then? I know you flashed custom rom after custom rom but you never said what was wrong with them? Sorry, I'm just a bit perplexed by the 'I don't care what anybody says, its crap' statement when a lot of people have been running the latest releases without any issues:p

I flashed stock ones also.

FM radio
Market Issues/SDcard
Answer/reject sliders in call (don't know if that is intended but it is rubbish)
Gallery not working if GPU acceleration is on
Random reboots/Force crashes (never ever get these on gingerbread)
Lockscreen Issues, Again it looks & works like pap.

Every ROM its suggested you use LP6 kernel to fix some of these issues but then other things stop working like FM radio & MHL.

I like my phone to be fully functional with all the features enabled, at the moment no ICS build offers that so for me it is not a stable daily driver & I certainly wouldn't recommend that to anyone. I know they are Beta builds.

As I say everyone experiences different things those are the few I have encountered on both stock roms & custom.

n64 emulation works surprisingly well on the g2s, actually. It's a shame it's not as good on my touchpad because I much prefer playing on the 10" screen but yeah you will be impressed with it.

I've tried out emulation it works very well indeed. I'm interested in getting a gamepad, is the ps3 controller the best bet? I also want to be able to use it with my PC, I can do that with a bluetooh adapter right? :) edit: yes should work with PC too, just googled it.

Strange that!

FM radio
works fine on LPB and also LPH, it was confirmed fixed for LPB over at XDA. What issues did you have?

Market Issues/SDcard
I've had no issues with LPB/LPH, I did with an earlier rom though

Answer/reject sliders in call (don't know if that is intended but it is rubbish)
Intended by the looks of things, but I cant see why that's a reason to say it's not fit for daily use - the 'sliders' work the same as the lock stock screen does

Gallery not working if GPU acceleration is on
Perfectly fine in LPH, didnt try forcing Acceleration in LPB. Is there really any need to FORCE GPU-A on the gs2? there are pros and cons to forcing it on apps that dont natively support it, but i can't see it being all that useful for this phone and the gallery is buttery smooth without it. There's a good writeup on it here https://plus.google.com/105051985738280261832/posts/2FXDCz8x93s

Random reboots/Force crashes (never ever get these on gingerbread)
Honestly I've not had one reboot since i first installed. LPB. Even Chrome beta hasnt FC'd on me yet lol

Lockscreen Issues, Again it looks & works like pap.
I agree, it's functionally lacking compared to the stock ICS lockscreen. Quite why they felt the need to strip features away i dont know, I'd have just uses the stock apl but again does that stop it being a daily rom? You've tried more custom roms than most, so why aren't you using a different lock screen, eg Widget locker?

Quite impressive isnt it? lol. Yeah ps3 is the best bet. I guess any bluetooth pad would work but stick with a ps3 pad tbh :)

Yeah, although funnily enough Goldeneye didn't run totally smooth for me, it was fine most of the time but there were some slowdowns in 1st mission. Everything else I tried worked flawlessly: Mario 64, Zelda: OoT, Perfect Dark, Mario Kart 64 and Final Fantasy VII (with PSX emu obviously)

I was very surprised to see that Perfect Dark ran better than Goldeneye since they are similar but PD is more graphically advanced.

I get awful battery drain with LPB and LPH. Litterly 1% a minute :/ Battery gets hot too. Checked processes and "media" has used like 80%, although media scanner isn't running. Do others have this problem?
