Anyone figured out how the online works? When i use the VITA am I auto signed in? Yesterday I was playing VT and I saw alerts showing people coming online, but not sure if it is showing me PS3 users or VITA or both. Also when switching ebtween games and things I am sure I see the logging on to PSN screens, implying it signs in and out between games :(

Also will a PS3 user see an alert saying "rp2000 is now online" if I sign in on VITA?

Finally: PLANETAXEL WHERE IS MY MEMORY CARD!!! I filled up my 4GB freebie already just with Stardust, Motorstorm, Escape Plan and a few freebies.

Super Stardust and Escape plan, and just going looking at the menu/settings so on.

I get sick from some fps games and stuff like Katamari. But never as fast as this. Too bad there's nowhere I could rent one so that I could try it out properly without the stand thing around it.
 
I'm not convinced that the Vita signs in when you turn it on (like PS3). I need to check with someone who has me on their PS3 friends list though, to confirm.

can the 3G only be used for downloading demos/games/patches etc ? wondering if there's any real reason to go for a 3G version
also, do you have to sign up for a contract or put credit on the sim card ?

I'm wondering the same thing,as i don't have a contract phone(probably never will),and i'm sorely tempted to "nip out" in a bit and make a purchase,my grandson,and myself are drooling over what we have seen of the Vita so far.
I.m 57,he is 5,console for all ages so it seems.:D
 
You can use contracts or a PAYG sim with it, TBH I was gamming on a 3G connection last year and it was fine, so I don't see why that can't allow online gaming on it


Another bonus is you get Wipeout 2048 for £5 with the 3G one

On the Vita when signed in, it will show you everyone who is online (Vita and PS3), on the PS3 it does not show anyone who is online with Vita, from what I have seen, if you send someone a message who is on PS3 it will say you sent it from Vita.

So only other Vita owners can see if you are online? Also do you know if the Vita stays signed in or does it do this periodically when going in and out of online games? I guess the only way to check is with another Vita owner who is online to see when your status changes.

Yeah if you are on Vita only Vita people see you online, not sure how the sign in works, I think if it goes to sleep then you get signed out.

I suspect this is the case. I think that I see the game logging back on after I resume from sleep.

It doesn't really bother me, I just wish the sign in screen was just 1 screen. At the moment I am sure I see the screen appear like 3 times before it signs in, literally a screen that says something like "please wait" that reloads 3 times!!

Hopefully a future update will make this more seamless.

PS Vita arrived this morning just minutes after the wife left for work
initial impressions are bigger than i imagined but also lighter
had some problems settung up wifi - would only accept my password if i entered the ssid manually
ill have a bash on fifa later
