A friend of mine works for the above and posted this earlier on today on our forums.
Incase anyone doesn't already know and have their pre-orders with GAME or Gamestation.
As some know i work for the company and less than an hour ago i found out during my day off that we're not getting any EA games in March except for SSX this week. The games that wont be stocked are Mass Effect 3, Tigerwoods 2012 and Fifa Street.
You can get a refund on your Deposit and £5 on your reward card IF you still have the original recieipt. If you don't then it's store credit i'm afraid.
Now according to Head office this is not the end of GAME, far from it, they're actually far better off than they were a few months ago.
I'm going to try and explain what we've been told and it may not make the most sense, just a warning.
Last month GAME had no credit insurance, the Bank took it back and it totally messed everything up. GAME then worked closely with all publishers to get everything sorted and come to an agreement. That was done as long as certain criteria was covered and over the past few weeks those criteria have been hammered out with the publishers.
Now this is where it gets a bit strange but some others may understand it more than me.
One of the criteria was to manage money better. Certain publishers recieved more money from us like EA and Nintendo based on their brand name as they're stuff sold very well.
Now GAME tried to change this by paying all publishers the same + extra depending on the games released, sounds fair right? Well not according to Nintendo (who GAME haven't stocked anything from for a month) and EA, they both want more and GAME can't do it.
So EA have pulled all of the release titles in March away from GAME (except SSX as i presume that's already gone through). EA decided to be awkward and thought that GAME would buckle due to recent problems. GAME haven't and so this has happened. The Exclusive Collectors Edition is now available through Zavvi, Play and a couple of other places, so if you missed it first time you can get a second chance at getting a copy.
This happened four years ago with Army of Two from EA, GAME refused to stock it due to pricing conflicts. The thing is that GAME is still 40% of the UK market so it's going to hurt EA and the sales of Mass Effect 3 more than it would hurt GAME. Mainly due to GAME now having a lot more free cash to buy other stock and that there really isn't much profit in new games anymore.
Yes GAME will lose customers in hte short-term, but it's going to be mostly forgotten by April.
