GAME lose another supplier

The gamestation and shopto sites are the most ugly and unprofessional looking sites I've ever seen. I also got the £5 voucher for gamestation but it seems they have hardly any games in stock so doesn't look like I'll be ordering anything from there.

I had mass effect 3 ordered from game to use my reward points but since thats gone now, I've ordered from tesco entertainment for £32.

Foolhardy is putting it lightly. Its retarded. Mass Effect 3 is the first biggest release of 2012 and will sell by the millions and Game have said no to getting a slice of that pie knowing how much crap theyre already in?????? Someone needs letting go.

Game can't commit to the cautious credit terms that EA are offering. EA won't offer anything more favourable because Game are in trouble and EA don't want to lose out as a result. It's rock and hard place time.

Game may be in trouble but they need to do whatever they can to keep the little business they have. First Ubisoft, Mario Party 9 and now Mass Effect 3 (not forgetting all EA titles due out his year if it doesnt get resolved). Not good

There's very little Game can do, short of hope that someone steps in to inject a large amount of capital or offer very favourable credit terms, to carry them for long enough to get their house in order and find a way to drop prices and increase sales. Unfortunately, it's likely that their anciliary costs (principally rent) are just too high to make this sort of business viable on the high street.

A friend of mine works for the above and posted this earlier on today on our forums.

Incase anyone doesn't already know and have their pre-orders with GAME or Gamestation....

Personally that post from your friend feels like it paints this situation is far too rosy a light. Spats with distributors over individual titles is one thing, but effectively I understand GAME group are being asked to pay for (in part, or all) stock up front (EG hinted this in their recent article 'what if GAME went bust' - a terrible article by the way, but for different reasons).

Sony clearly arranged a consignment deal with GAME and HMV to secure Vita Stock but clearly EA doesn't want to risk it's own fortunes with millions more stock in a retailer seemingly very close to administration. It obviously talked about it's concerns at the financial state of GAME in it's own financial results a few weeks ago.

This is dreadful news for GAME. This is the first big release of 2012 where sales UK to date have been down across the board. When general public realises that GAME can't guarantee stock major releases anymore, they are in even bigger trouble. However your friend does raise an interesting points over how EA will be affected, i.e. will ME3 sales be affected in the UK.

PS. I don't want to see people lose their jobs, and take no joy in this fact.

I can't remember the last time i even bought a game on release from GAME or Gamestation. I'm really amazed they're still managing to get customers. I just don't see any incentive to use them when online is so much cheaper.

From what I understand of it the above mentioned companies do not rely on new game sales anymore because the profit margins are so tiny, instead used game sales are where a bulk of the business comes from and that they do very well in.

I was talking to the lad that owns the local game shop near me about Game and I said I wouldn't miss the company but I do feel sorry for the people that will be unemployed if they go under.

I feel the same. Don't like the company, but never nice to see jobs go.

I'm a bit narked off considering I ordered the Collectors Edition months and months ago. I best be able to get it fulfilled somewhere else!

When people realise that GAME selling pre-owned titles for only £3 less then new, and then you require £8-£10 spent on a multiplayer pass on top, is daft practice, then their pre-owned market will drop like a stone too.

I work for game, inside a comet store, everyday it's a guess whether im working my last shift. Lol.

Looks like games share price is taking a battering today too dropped over 10% do far today
Christ at this rate you coul by a majority holding for 50p and a bag of crisps

I might trade in my 60gb ps3 for half the company.

Ripping myself off mind.

Royall ****ed off right now, got the E-mail through about losing my Collector's Edition pre-order while I was out on a job, and then got an E-mail from Zavvi saying they have the CE, but is sold out on Xbox >_>

Just got my email regarding my cancelled preorder, bit crap as i had points on my reward card so was getting it cheaper and with the day N7 dlc pack. So i'll have to keep an eye on the Mass Effect preorder site see if they update it with who is stocking the preorder bonuses. But this has been coming with Game, they have been struggling against online retailers for a while and making the stores and online separate entities was just annoying. Also like someone mentioned their pre-owned stuff was a joke.

This definitely doesn't sound good for Game. I found out from my bro before I got the email telling me I'd lost my pre-order, and by that time I'd already changed my pre-order to Shopto, so hopefully they'll come through for me. After pre-ordering months ago I'll be gutted if I miss out on the N7 Collector's Edition. I think I'll be spending my £30 in reward points from Game though, just in case. They may not still be here for me to spend them in 6 months at this rate!
