GAME lose another supplier

This is obviously an attempt to shift their second hand stock.

I imagine its probably something they've got lots of lieing around, not careing about how much money is tied up in it, safe in the knowledge it will sell eventually.

Except with the current situation they aren't sure. So they start a firesale to clear out all the old stock they can't sell and to get people in the store buying.

As its all second hand stuff, its all stuff they have massive mark ups on anyway, so they'll be willing to reduce those mark ups in order to claw back some money in the bank.

I imagine cex will see a lot of people come walking in with armfuls of games...

My local CEX have always been dead fussy when it comes to trading games in. If its something popular and gets traded in a lot(like say COD) they will always try and beat me down on price. I suspect the other CEX stores will no different faced with a barrage of trade ins from Games old / crap stock.

I've never had any bother in the Manchester or Wigan branches, but I know their Ts and Cs do say that they reserve the right to refuse trade ins.

Never any problems in the Leeds CeX, even when taking in multiple copies of the same game ;)

Well yes it's obvious they are trying to shift second hand stock, but my thinking is they wouldn't have done this if they weren't in the situation they are in.

Christ, they have had launch titles on the 360 for £15+ in both my local stores, they have NEVER lowered the price.

They are panicking.

Just popped into The Games and gamestation in Metrocentre, nothign at all to be seen in gamestation.

Game had a very poor selection of 2nd hand games reduced by around £5 per game but nothing really decent lol.

no it wouldn't, it will happen eventually and most PC gamers nowadays go digital just fine.

the vita has also shown that you can have a strong market digitally if the incentives are good enough

PCs by and large are devices connected to the Internet and is a gaming medium that's lost popularity. It's generally tech savvy people who still do these days.

Game consoles aren't necessarily played with an Internet connection, people buy games and never use it online.

Also you can't use the Vita as a yard stick for anything, it's only just been released. Sony's last attempt at a medium free device was a total failure with the PSP Go.

PSP was already finished when Go came out, half the games weren't even available digitally so it was a big fail all round.

Look at the iPhone for digital success!

Although I don't think a console would succeed like that yet.

My local had the sale on for everything. I got Blink for 49p (had two pound store credit) and Kane and Lynch for 1.99.

They had Gears 2 for 1.99, Fifa 11 for 99p, Bulletstorm for 99p. Oh and it made me all emotional to see my favourite game of 2010 Alpha Protocol for only 1.99.
