The State of Our Society

I actually am in favour (and i know many in the industry) of:
- Raising the Maternity Allowance to make it an adult only benefit
- Removing the opportunity to gain accommodation
- Introducing compulsory parenting classes to the most at risk youngsters (lets face it they won't go off their own backs)

albert by the way has guessed correctly on everything about this guy just from his picture... i can tell you :)

I think that there are far too many people getting pregnant at too young an age, however what do you think you'll achieve by raising maternity allowance and removing accomodation?

I will guess he means the parents of the knocked up young one has to
pay for their childrens stupidity instead of society as a whole , just a guess

WOW

I truly despair sometimes, I truly do.

George Orwell was talking about YOU in 1984!

What's wrong with wanting people to be a bit more mature when taking on the responsiblity of looking after a life, say 18-19 years old rather than 14-15. Chavvy girls shouldn't see getting knocked up as an easy way of getting a house and more benefits so they can spend it on booze&fags.
Whats wrong with doing some work in your life first ? or maybe getting some education by choice ?

It removes the element of a financial incentive. I'm certainly not saying it will solve all teenage pregnancy over night. No, far from it. But it will deter a portion of those simply because they will realise that no money will be given to support their lifestyle.

Child benefit will still apply of course, however that is one benefit which particularly to the young can be so grossly misused. Young Mums in the not so distant past used to openly refer to it as "fag money". Voucher schemes for nappies, fruit and vegetables is much more constructive and sensible.

The main argument that the above faces is "who are you to tell people how to spend their money"... when in fact its about "who are we to want to know that tax-payers money is being spent sensibly"... i for one welcome our teenage pregnancy overlords would want to know that it is there to benefit the child in full.

I was moping around when this caught my attention:

http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Tot-left-paralysed-dad-fell-asleep/story-15506816-detail/story.html

I often wonder what direction Society is taking. Society as i see it is people living together under and for the common good.

Does more drastic action need to be taken against the elements of Society who are so dysfunctional, so incapable, so parasitic and inept of all the responsibilities ... that are in turn being sponged from the tax payer?

In this instance:

Is the Government and indeed many zealous liberals for that matter, completely unawares that villains are growing among us? Having a child myself i've come to notice a lot more when it comes to parenting. To see children (~18) with toddlers running around to the Mothers calls of "get the [expletive] back"... and the views through McDonalds windows of these tiny tots being gorged on junk whilst Mums outside puffing on a fag in an argument with the latest squeeze.

Is it time we thought about Parenting classes being delivered in schools? More drastically... (a friends idea that i disagree with in general) should the coil be fitted at 13/14? Should Maternity Allowance be an Adult (18+) only benefit? Should Working Tax Credits respective of children be only paid after 19 or even 20?

Cases like the above are growing, there is a growing majority of the minority who are passing nothing on to society...

So OCUK your thoughts?

Note: If a mod would want to move this to SC feel free :)

Shame someone didn't roll over on you tbh.

If I had my way all kids would be slung on the Isle of wight & not allowed on the mainland until they had reached a certain kind of maturity.
The kids would be raised by people that are good with kids in a vocational way & any attempt of escape would be met with severe punishment & added years on "The Island".

Surely ingenious technically skilled escape attempts should be rewarded with engineering placements :p

It sounds to me like a tragic accident, but I fail to see why the father should punished any further.

Indeed, I'm pretty sure there's a photo of my dad asleep on the sofa with me asleep on top of his belly as a child somewhere in the house.

Seems like a tragic accident that could have happened to anyone of any class.

one thing i find odd though is they take the baby away after the mother stabs her babies father then later stabs someone else to death and give it to her mother?

surely that woman has proved she's incapable of raising decent children and shouldn't be given another child?

I'm guessing seeing as the OP mentioned he'd just had a child that we have a case of New Parent Syndrome.

Oh noes danger is EVERYWHERE!!!!111!!!

Shame someone didn't roll over on you tbh.

OP has a point. Mother locked up for murder, father irresponsible enough to behave as such as a lone parent.

Either you're a troll or a moron. Normally I'd refrain from personal insults, but judging by your post and cretinously glib attitude it's a statement of fact more than anything else.

I do understand how a dad could be tired enough to fall asleep with baby in arms.
If drugs were involved then it is a terrible situation.

Could do with better social responsibility, and less rights, less taxes and more responsibility. That will not be what occurs.

I wonder would national service help (non military and military), country has little social respect left, it isnt taught, it is thoroughly looked down upon, seems to be looked at as stiffling freedom of expression.

I for one would like to ban all hoodies. I hate the things with passion!

I do have to admit that im sick to the back teeth of seeing Waynettas waddling around heavily pregnant, smoking with 2 scruffy kids in tow. No doubt never worked a day in their life and EXPECT the state to fund them and their offspring.

I personally believe that until you have paid x amount of tax / national insurance then you should be exempt from claiming benefits. I started work the day after I left school and have paid tax ever since (a lot of tax) and it boils my blood to see scrotes claiming, who dont know what it is to get up in the morning to earn their way in life.

With all due respect OP, this is ridiculous.

If you were to accidentally kill your own child and it was found, later on, that you had traces of alcohol in your system, would you expect us to make the same assumptions about you?

I'm not looking for a "context" argument either; it's just quite disgusting to use the article as a springboard for your own agenda.

I am getting sick of people using singular cases they hear about in the paper, to justify their grossly misinformed generalizations about an entire nation.
