*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

Arriving in stores at 08:00:

CUPERTINO, California―March 14, 2012―Apple® today announced the new iPad®, the third generation of its category defining mobile device, will arrive at Apple's retail stores and the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com) on Friday, March 16 at 8:00 a.m. local time in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK; along with Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Just got a phone call from Patrick (who is Irish, unsurprisingly) at the Apple Online Store, to say that I'll be receiving my iPad on the 16th now, instead of the 20th that it was put back to.

Hopefully a few others who got the delayed e-mail will get the same phone call. :)

Camera comparison shots.

^ It would be nice if they were of the same thing... :p

It does look a good camera though, it should be right up there with the better mobile phone ones.

I will be (hopefully) receiving the top wifi model on Friday for free through our company... I figured that since I'm not *that* desperate to keep it and there is now a backlog, I could sell the brand new one ASAP for a tidy profit :p

Any suggestions of where I could do this, besides eBay?

any chance you had a apple tv in your order as well???

You're getting one now as well? My word.

I imagine it will be a bit cheaper at duty free, it wouldn't be duty free if it still had the duty on. :p

Stock levels would be more of a concern I think.

Maybe stock levels would be a concern, but my friend is passing through several airports in three countries over the weekend. Given I didn't pre-order so wouldn't be getting one for three weeks minimum anyway, it's worth the ask.

I need to reduce the volume taken up by my possessions. To that end, I want to clear out a lot of my boardgames and stop getting physical copies of magazines. The reason I'm considering the heilPad is because it has certain apps and magazine subs that I really want (most notably Caylus, Ascension, the Arkham Horror Toolit and the forthcoming C&C:Ancients), but the developer or publisher has declared they will not be producing them for Android. If they were available for Android, I would not want an iPad, but I'm stuck.

Another thing that grinds my gears is when I can't find the droids I'm looking for.

If you're trolling and suggesting I'm being brainwashed then you're wrong.

This is my first tablet, I'm not upgrading. I looked at other options and the new iPad for me was easily the best option. This coming from a current Android phone owner (and I very nearly went with an Android tablet).

I'm tired of reading this type of thing over and over again
as no content other than photos will make use of this and on such a small screen is total overkill anyway
It's pretty damn short sighted.... ironically!
