*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

Three usually take about 1-3 days to do it but can sometimes take up to a week. Restoring an ipad 2 will take under 5 minutes. Just go to settings---general----reset---erase all content and settings. No need to download ios again.

(keep in mind she has had the pad synced (backed up)to the pc in case there's any precious data she needs to keep)

Just phoned 3 myself and had the unlock process set underway. She's going to give me the handset tomorrow and just tell me when the text comes in, I'll restore to iTunes and boom. Unlocked iPhone 4 :)

Thanks for the help guys !

Oh dear:

MG Siegler confirms in his review on TechCrunch that charging the new iPad takes “several hours” longer compared to previous generations:

And it's noticeably warm to the touch.

All for the WORSE battery life.... doh!

Yes? I guess you'd have preferred for the 10 hour battery life to have been halved to 5 hours, so you could moan about THAT instead?

Got you before your lol edit as well.

SHOCK AS LARGER CAPACITY BATTERY TAKES LONGER TO FILL!

charging the ipad takes "several hours"... i find that hard to believe. It's double the battery capacity so might take twice at long but changes to the technology may have better charging times...but several hours? that SG siegler must have been hiiiiiiiigh... lol

"lol edit" - I changed "same" to "WORSE"... which it is, as has been demonstrated in reviews

No... I'd expect it to have a display that doesn't require a laptop sized battery to power. They could have made the battery smaller for a UK / European model so we aren't wasting our time with a "4G" iPad that we cannot use.

Just checked my UKMail delivery status... currently says its delayed!!!!!!!!!! :(

05 - Misroute System Generated 05 - Misroute POD
Expected delivery 19/03/2012

Anyone else on UKMail got this?

I'm just hoping it's because they holding it until tomorrow :(

I still can't track my TNT order.. like everyone else i've been trying for days and it just says no records found.

I just phoned apple up and spoke to their automated line and got a NEW tracking number... all excited I tried that one; didn't work either. Is it coming tomorrow or not??

Incidentally the automated line is very good, it asked for the order number which I didnt have to hand and had to go online to find- I just asked the automated person to wait (Not really expecting that to work).. so it goes "OK, i'll wait- just tell me when you're ready".. pretty impressive... Unlike TNT's F'ing tracking system!

Well what the hell were you expecting from a display that had double the amount of pixels? That the extra pixels were made from magic pixie dust that required no power to function? I'm even more baffled by your request for a smaller battery; do you actually want worse battery life?!

Yeah Apple are going to tool up for a specific iPad for the UK and they're also going to magically power those 3.1 million pixels with faerie dust.

You're trolling boy.

In other news my iPad TNT tracking number works but says Please Call under the status. The nice lady at TNT told me this is because the data is on the system but doesn't have a package assigned to it. She says that it will and yes she has been getting a lot of calls about this.

I haven't said smaller battery... i've said it's wrong to have a "bigger" battery that makes the device bigger and heavier. The iPad 2 is too heavy as it stands.

The battery is also larger to cope with the 4G chip... so that's no use to us.

Everyone here was bleating about how the iPad is not a gaming device and that the games aren't proper games, yet Apple have shoe-horned a power-hungry gpu in there and upgraded the screen which has crippled the battery-life. The only apps that will benefit from this is the games. The iPad 2 can run everything else perfectly fine.

I would have liked a screen that wasn't detrimental to the design and usage of the product.

It's like Apple just said to themselves "sod the actual productivity of the iPad, lets just cram a better display in there for bragging rights!"

I'm not going to even bother constructing a real reply to this, get a grip.
