*** The SKY F1 2012 Coverage Thread ***

I quite enjoyed the coverage of the practise sessions. Having said that it was exactly the same as last years BBC coverage, David Croft and Anthony Davidson (Five Live last year) with of course the same TV feed that everyone gets. Lazenby, Brundle and Hill were OK but lacked the sense of humour that came with Jake, Eddie and David.

Kravitz and Pinkham were good in the pits (especially when Ted met Lenny) but then they were BBC as well.

I also recorded it and skipped the adverts which I will probably do with all F1 now.

Some of the other F1 stuff was pretty useless, Georgie looked and felt out of place.

So far nothing useful new from Sky and therefore OK. Sky 0 BBC 1 albeit all on Sky TV.

Couldn't agree more.

Georgies nodding at Ant Davidson during the 'Sky Pad' part in the studio was very telling!

I have to say, some of this filler stuff "The F1 Show" with Georgie Thompson milling around doing and saying pointless things is pretty dire, anyone else see this? I guess they have to fill the time somehow with a whole channel.

And then they misspelled the name of HRT's team principal. Good to see they really care about this sport, as opposed to merely wanting to make sure that anyone who wants to enjoy sport in the UK has to pay them.

Oh, wait.

I logged into sky player using my parents sky account only to find I cant access the F1 channel, am sure they have Sky HD cos they have HD Channels??!! Anyways my gf has told me shes gona give me her dads sky account who fortunately likes football enough to have sports channels. cba with downloading 2.7+GB per practice session.

Is investing in a set of 5.1 headphones worth it for this year?
I currently use stereo speakers/headphones for movies/F1 so would get no gaming use, but tempted to try some out for F1!

How are people finding the 5.1 ???

for anyone whos watching online and wondering how you get the different camera options it looks like you have to watch it via the skysport website and not the skyplayer website
http://www1.skysports.com/formula1/live/
theres a red button that says "RACE CONTROL - Multi screen viewing experience"

bump incase anyone missed it and wonders how they get the camera selections during Qually/Race

It's not bad. Not essential though.

Commentary comes through the centre channel nicely and all the other sounds from the other 4.

Don't think I'd me missing much then, would be good to hear the cars approaching the camera but having seen them live already a few times my imagination does a good job of filling in the realness aspect!

Plus it'd be a 5.1 headset so probably not that great.

Any idea when virgin is getting the red button stuff?

It says it's being worked on and will be available later in the season.

Would love to select inboard video, especially in quali.
