What film did you watch last night?

Green Zone - 6/10

War of the Worlds (remake) 9/10 I just really like this film. Only thing that is silly is where the tripods come from. However, I'm not sure how else it could have been done.

The woman in black - I was expecting this to be tame but it was actually pretty chilling and at the worst moments terrifying! Me and my friend were curled up into balls in our seats towards the end :p

Great chilling ghost story, can't fault it at all apart from it felt like it was retreading on tried and tested ghost story ground. Nevertheless, very good and definitely worth seeing at the cinema. I don't think I could have enjoyed it any more :)

You big fat wimp:p...i saw it a few weeks ago with the missus and i think we both jumped maybe twice in the whole movie....my missus doesnt like horror movies whereas i love them. But we both found Woman in Black a bit meh in all honesty.

We Bought A Zoo

When i watched the trailer to this I had completely different expectations on what kind of film this would be so was pleasantly surprised as I watched through it. I thought it was going to be a film aimed at kids, whacky dad buys a house inside a zoo and the kids have many laughs etc but no, it wasn't like that at all, there were laughs and comical moments but the whole film has a deeper meaning and is about human connection above all else.

All the characters were superb and even Mr Mee's kids played strong roles with excellent performances.

Without Matt Damon as the father though I don't think this would have turned out so well, he has this thing about him that pulls through on screen and in such a role it worked out brilliantly.

I give this 8/10 as it is now in my top films of the year list.

+1 great movie, watched it the other night and thought it was pretty damn good although i had my doubts about it.

Apolo 18

:(
3/10
What a pile of junk, it's not scary, there's no point to it, no story, no dramatics. Just nothing. Brilliant idea, dreadfully done.

Yeah, I had a similar experience, I have to say, if you haven't yet, go see the play. The film works in the mediam it is in, but the play sticks more to the original story and is absolutely chilling example of theatre at its best.

I really didn't like that film. Maybe it didn't help that I guessed the ending based on the name and tagline alone.

I figured out that he had been in a car crashed and caused 7 deaths, so dedicated the rest of his days to helping people. I'm not sure if the only reason I think it's a 7/10 rather than a 5or so/10 is because Will Smith is in it.

Question;

Did you understand the story, as in who's point of view it's from and which story it's telling?

From what I understood its from the Chiefs pov but I think the film kind of distorts that a little. I plan on reading the book now. I would rather read the book second because no matter how good the film was the book will always be better.

Just watched REC 2. 6/10

Really good horror franchise.

If you haven't seen the first REC, I highly recommend it.

The sequel was a bit mundane but picked up during the last quarter and has got me hyped for a sequel.

[EDIT] Ah, the sequel looks pants.

It's a prequel with a completely new cast, not handheld footage, and it's a horror comedy. Gah.

Watched Friends With Benefits (again) last night, certainly one of the better rom-coms, Mila Kunis is super pretty and Justin Timberlake isn't even that annoying in it. Even has a decent soundtrack.

Watched a few films over the last couple of weeks...

Troll Hunter - Brilliant, 10/10!
Brothers - Good, 7/10.
Transformers 3 - Turned it off after 20 mins, felt like I was watching one long commercial. 0/10 for the film, 10/10 for the bird.
Four Lions - Hilarious from start to finish, 9/10.
Ink - Very good, low budget film. Very atmospheric I thought, don't be tempted to switch it off early like I very nearly did, 8/10
Cowboys and Aliens - alrightish, 6/10.
127 Hours - not bad, 7/10.
Battle LA - not bad, 7/10.
Monsters - not bad, 7/10.

Yep. Pretty much, you get it much more in the book. The film still comes across as such, but you're right in that it's a more subtle. Enjoy the book ;)
