*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

finally got my ipad yesterday.

absolutely love it and i've hardly used it yet.

managed to get £140 refund from apple for the delay in the end.

Just told a work colleague that he can put more than four apps into the homescreen dock of his iPad 1 that he's had for ages. His reaction on the phone was priceless :D

Why do people not just try this?

I get something new, my immediate reaction, ok, so can I do this, how do I do this, that and another. I just start throwing things around.

One gripe I noticed, but haven't Googled for a solution (Will now...), is how you can't put the Bookshelf in to an App folder.

You used to be able to do it by creating a new folder by dragging one app onto another and then very quickly as the folder was 'forming' grab the Newstand and drag it into the same folder which is now open. Can't seem to do it on the ipad but have done it on the iphone

So tempted to get a new iPad. I use my iPad 2 daily for 2-3 hours and use Splashtop to do virtually everything besides gaming on my Desktop PC.

Anyone here used Splashtop with the new iPad yet? Can imagine it must be an even nicer experience. Also, anyone checked out Star Walk on a new one yet? Apparently it can display 300,000 stars!

any recommendations for storage cases for the ipad.

i want to use it without any case etc but want somewhere not too large and lightweight to store it securely when not in use.

I use RealVNC for HTPC and Desktop connection... I was rather impressed the first time I connected that I could read everything on my HTPC without having to bother zooming in :D

The heat of the device is actually starting to nark me for some reason, never thought it would, now it's a toss up between putting up with it and getting some sort of back shell to dissipate the heat a bit.

One thing with this new iPad. It's almost too good - the vast majority of images and assets on webpages look pants because of the resolution. If/when Apple go Retina on the iMacs and Macbooks the same thing's going to happen... the internet needs to catch up!

Who says Apple don't innovate. :p

This.

It's almost turning me off when something isn't high res enough!

Have to admit, the screen does show the internets in a different light!

Sort of makes having the previous screen 'better' because the web doesn't look so meh :p

Got mine on its first full charge, taken a week.. (done daily topup charges). It's gone upto like 30% within 1< hour... I've felt like its going down very quickly though compared to my iPad 1.

Yeah I felt the same way about my iPad 3 batt vs the 1. Make sure Bluetooth is off as well as Cellular if you're not using it and ensure the screen is set to 50% brightness with autobrightness on.

I had initially set my screen to max brightness (bad habit from the iPad1) and the battery life was real poor :p It has got better after 2 full charges though!
