Guild Wars 2

Finally at the point in Guild Wars 1 where I have all the item unlocks in the HoM - not fussed about getting absolute max in titles.
Can't wait for this game!
I'd have thought SW:tOR would be more appealing to me, but I really prefer the look of this... anyone feel the same way?

No Steam then.

So the next Beta Weekend event will be a the end of April and open to those who have pre ordered? Has this been confirmed?

Not seen it confirmed anywhere. But it took 3 weeks to get from signing up for the closed beta to the weekend event. I would imagine the next beta will indeed be sometime in April and open to all pre-ordered users.

Not on steam as yet at least, perhaps steam wont do the pre-purchase , just the release.

I think I saw a twitter entry on their twitter feed the other day which said the next beta weekend was at the end of april and would include the pre-purchase (not pre-order) people.

Looking forwards to this.

I'm just watching the Total Biscuit - impressions so far video and notice at around 8:19 he travels through a portal and loads a new zone.

This appeared just like Guild wars 1 where as I thought this game would be one big zone except for instanced dungeons etc.

I'm not familiar with the map, but is that because he was inside a capital city and was zoning out into the gameworld? I've been under the impression that the gameworld itself is seamless, but that you zone into instanced dungeons and capitals. A little like how Daoc was set up, where you ran around zones without loading, but would load to go into the capitals or a dungeon.

Looking again the portal is when entering/leaving Hoelbrak in the the Shiverpeaks. Which is apprantly a capital city.

I hoped even the major cities would have been seamess. Not sure how portal would work later if they add flying mounts.

Still looking forwards to it though.

Its persistent but not one cohesive world, it is split into sections.

Edit - there are no mounts flying or otherwise, probably wont be ever since there is a quick travel system.

I always think its a good idea to have flying mounts, Do you not think that the quick travel system would work for lower levels then add this in a later date?

I think its a good idea to have somthing like that added into the game. Just because it lets people get the work done to get them. What is there to work towards? just the armor.

I have stopped following as much because I was let down by SWTOR.

Im ok with the capitals having portalling, as I say thats the same system that Daoc used, I can live with that.

I much preferred the original's method of beta weekend access whereby importing a pack from the US guaranteed access. All this selection malarkey is too unreliable.. let me buy my way in like before dammit!

What? Just... you use quicktravel as long as you have the money for it, that's it, why complicate it? :P Also, flying mounts being something to work towards is not good enough a reason in my opinion, you don't need it, it's superfluous especially that you want(or should want) to explore around by foot.

All I can think of is just, meh, why? is what it is.

I understand about the quick travel, but it was always good going round seeing others with the epic mounts and asking how they got hold of it. I am not saying that they SHOULD do it but what else would there be to collect. Other than armor PVE and PVP. There isnt even any need in normal mount. Am i making sense? I am struggling to get across what I mean lol :p

Sorry I am not clued up on everything fully just trying to grasp things.

Maybe they will put in loads of collectibles for your housing, that would be cool, would be like UO and collecting all the rares to decorate your house with (or more recently, the trophies and collectibles for decorating your houses in LoTRO)

Dyes for dying armour is also not always easily attainable from what I've seen, so it's not just about getting rare armour to look special but getting a rare coloured dye for it will also be something to try and collect.
