• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

The maturity level in the Graphics Cards Forum.

The thing is, if people believe something to be incorrect, doesn't mean it is. Plenty of other people then and since have shown memory usage to exceed the limits of some cards at high resulution in certain games.

Well to be fair, I don't believe some people truly believe what they post. After all, trolling is one of those things defined by intent. If someone comes onto OcUK with the intention of posting drivel believing it to be true, that isn't trolling, it's just stupidity. Trolls are those who post simply to wind others up.

So what do you do with those who come on to troll, but hide behind the excuse of "oh, it's my opinion"?

What I would like to know, who would make that decision. After all, without opinions this forum would be dead and a high percentage of those opinions will be wrong. How do you determine who is a troll hiding "behind the excuse of "oh, it's my opinion", when as said above so many opinions are wrong in the first place.

Tbh i don't mind a bit of flak for posting something not to everyones taste but the thread Shayper is on about was purely a thread showing someones nice overclokcing score and i got stuff that may aswell have been "ooooo do u want a ****NO swearing, disguised or not!**** blue peter badge for that lol", all post got reported and i wont be starting a similar thread in the futere thx to a few certain idiots.

Don't let the negative reactions stop you posting a thread like this in the future, Krony, after all, you didn't do anything wrong. :)

Don't let them bother you mate, I found it an interesting read. They are the ones that should be warned.

I think Display Age should be public and compulsory.

I think you would be shocked how old some people are ;)

All discussions should be kept about the subject and not the person, avoid phrases like "you said" or "you're wrong". If people quoted facts and figures to back up the reasons for liking/prefering things rather than feelings it would be much more constructive.

Give me facts on why I should buy something, opinions are all well and good but that won't make me buy something. The interent is awash with loyalists and vested interests, even a lot of the review sites can seem a tad biased but even then it is hard to know who is and who isn't.

When it is as close as it is now in the GPU market is when it all kicks off as a slight lean in one direction is enough for a "win" winding up the other side.

It makes buying really quite difficult sometimes!

This is about the truth of the matter. The problem is on top of subtle trolling over a period of time, many of the people that get accused of trolling, are actually correct in what they say, but get reported by AMD/Nvidia fanboys because they don't like to hear the truth. It even goes as far as people asking to have other people posts removed because they don't like to hear it!

 that is actually quite hilarious. People actually do that!

The subtle trolling is definitely a problem - but I have found that by constantly reporting the members involved and explaining to the mods what has been happening, it eventually gets sorted once enough evidence comes together.

I personally would not be shocked as there has been a few Age threads but the point is it would make things easier at times as some things would be expected from some age groups and you would know very quickly after talking with a particular person not to waste any more of your time as it would be falling on deaf ears. It may also discourage some of the older members as they my feel embarrassed about themselves.

And your right it is very close which some people cant live with.

Guys, if you think this is bad have a look on some body building forums. Utterly pathetic. Very small, immature men behind a keyboard.

I agree with the sentiment of this thread. Any putting down or sneering ought to be an offense and a three strikes and your out policy adopted. I take issue at sarcism and sneering leveled at beginners and intermediates.

That said, 99% of folks are brilliant on this forum and give fantastic advice.

My 2 penneth FWIW

It's usually the same people. Trust me though, people acting like ***** is not unique to this forum. Try being a member of the Supra Owners Club!! :)

^Just read the above about BB forums. Agree there too. The creation of the Internet and the "Forum" has lead to idiots getting their undeserved right to speak

Also, how funny is a 5'5" guy in the gym / bodybuilding forum mouthing off? Defo SMS

to be honest i dont see much bad stuff going on here at all, just a bunch of idiots swinging their handbags at each other over the GTX 680 Vs 7970 debate..football club forums are far worst than anything that goes on here, in fact it's not that bad :D because you can swear like crazy just like being on the terraces and nobody deletes you, because the moderators are just as bad as you.

Is ALXAndy one of them? they seem to share the same obsession about proving the benefits of VRAM with little in the way of actual evidence.

They are nothing alike and the rest a personal opinion which i don't share.

Ahh.. Was he posting about VRAM on those accounts, too? Or something.. Ha.

Similar posts and he had a pretty unique system of tri SLI GTX5803gb with a 990X an he had that as his system for both accounts.

Andy doesn't post so many graphs and isnt anywhere near as annoying!

i quite like him, he makes me laugh, you lot get so wound up by him; do you realise that he's behaving like this on purpose simply for the sheer hell of it.

you need to understand what his game is, he digs at you; but not quite enough to get deleted, but you dont help yourselves because you bite back all the time, it really is quite funny to read.

I hear that. ALXAndy posts good things, it's just that if your opinion differs to his, then we are all wrong and the way he answers you back in a belittling way, is not required.
I can't help but get wound up, even though I know I shouldn't.

EDIT:

There is another guy who posts here recently, who just contradicts everything he writes. He hates NVIDIA and they are **** but he is going to get a 590 but they blow up so he is going to get a 7950 but they are not powerfull enough so he is going to get a 7990 but they are too power hungry etc etc.

I think I need to get out more, even though it is raining :(
