Pfft, It's a great track, just done ~5 laps, 2:25.6 best, 23.9 optimal, way more slidey than Oulton :D

Was a bit surprised by how many of the kerbs need to be avoided, but other than that it's fine, looking forward to see what the actual pace is/should be tomorrow...

It is odd how little grip there is, but once you drive around that I was liking it, need to be so careful on the throttle and even brakes in a couple of area's but I didn't find it that hard...

I do like the car moving around like that though, when it's a constant effort to keep it straight :p

i never liked it 1 bit TBH, there no grip either and with all them turns and blind turns its a recipe for disaster..

Well after the best part of three months I've had a concerted effort this weekend and managed to get my Class C licence. So the big question is what next? I reckon I'm going to complete the Grand Touring Cup season, but I think I can effectively get all of the tracks in the Radical Racing Challenge for "free" as I've some iRacing dollars in my account. However as I've only been MX5 with paddles and auto clutch :o up until now will it be too big a jump? What do you reckon? I really wish you could try the cars before you buy them.

Although it seems like fun to run with the guys on here in the Radicals, I prefer to build my way slowly up through the cars/licenses. I should also get my C license soon. I am currently D with a SR of 3,75. I am currently running the inRacing rookie series and I am planning to do a full season of Grand Touring Cup in a Jetta next season. I have purchased the Jetta and am slowly getting used to it while finishing the Rookie multiclass series in the MX5.

i made my own way through, and i totally skipped d class after i bought the skippy and hated it, then i got the star mazda and the radical and as soon as i drove the radical i knew it was the car for me, it just so happened that josh also enjoyed driving it since it got the NTM, so we became friends and now race together whats better than booting round a race track at 160mph with your pals???

i want as many of us to race the radical as possible, its so much fun.

the jetta is ok but its just i find racing it boring after the radical, but just cos we like it dosent mean everybody else should, it is a handful at times but thats part of the fun...

Just done some more practice around VIR, really liking it now :p

Does help that I knew it from before, and when I learnt it I did the South Course, and then Full Course, which covers almost all of the Grand East version but individually being much shorter...

Anyway, I did some very basic playing around with the setup to try to tame it a bit and I think I had some measure of success - I still have to be careful on the braking into the first left hander (the kink is evil to brake through, but leaving it till after the kink makes it a hard stop), and obviously treating the throttle pedal nicely, and even at one point distinctly short shifting, but overall it seems a bit more stable.

I took the Oulton race set, upped the rebound on the rear from 5 to 7 (think it was rebound, the second from the top of the numbers that were tweaked for Oulton?), set the rear ARB to soft from medium, and finally increased tyre pressures to basically Oulton Q levels.

The end result seemed quite nice, not 100% sure on the tyres but I did 8 laps (7 flying) which is ~19 minutes so a decent chunk of the race and it was just getting quicker, didn't become massively more unstable.

Got my PB down to a 2:24.388 iirc, of course I have no idea if that's a good start or if I'm 20 seconds off the pace, but it feels ok (if a little 'steady', eg more race pace than Q pace)

Once you know the circuit and got a setup which handles better it really is lovely here, imo :p

I just done abit more aswell, in getting there slowly, that first left handers is really hard to get the braking right, you do have to be so gentle on the throttle on most corners.

then esses are something esle tho there epic, I'm struggling with the blind left hander chicane type corner and the next corner.

now I know the track abit better I've started to try make a set, but I've just downloaded the 1 simon posted, so that might help me learn the track better...

2.26 is my best but I'm not flying yet at all...still struggling...

your time is about the average/fast pace so far josh from the server i just been in, im down to a 25 but im really struggling if im honest.

however some 1 set a 2.22 lap time with a opt of 21, so i got some real ground to make up to catch the aliens..

when you get a good set you will be on the fast pace josh, stephen gier has posted a good set he shared it with my in the server...

Yeah, I hadn't noticed the thread was up already but gonna try the sets tonight, it's quite interesting to see where people are and as you say I'm not a million miles off where I want to be. Interesting to see Simon was using a 17 wing, the guy's insane :p

My Optimal is a 23.0 which I'd be happy to get down towards, if I set a 22 I'll be very happy :p Annoyingly I'll be away most of the weekend, planning to get back home in time for the 6:30 race (definitely the 8:30/10:30 ones) but that's gonna be my lot, I really hope they go official...

Catching the aliens is gonna be very tricky around here, all the sequences of corners need to be taken just right, which I doubt I can do when pushing 100% :p
