The FA CUP Semi-Finals 14/15 April *** Spoilers ***

Truly gutted.. I didn't expect Spurs to win but i didn't expect luck to go against us the way it did. Having said that, Chelsea showed their true class when it comes to the big match know how. I expect them now to go on win this and grab 4th place too. Drogba is truly awesome. I wish we had someone of his calibre.

As for Spurs, I 'd like to say they played well, particular in the first half but looking at them over 90 minutes they remain inconsistent. I wish they would stop killing the ball off and actually attack opposing teams rather than ****** footing around. This may have worked fine at the start of the season and half way through, but it was never going to last nor work well at the business end. Set pieces, particularly from corners, is awful.

I can't wait or the season to end now. Get some dead wood out of the club.

What a wonderful sight:

what an awful awful game, ruined by a useless referee and useless redknapp tactics

i knew it was not going to go our way when VDV hit the post and terry cleared off the line and we were putting some good play together.

we were missing kaboul, gallas wasn't fit and got turned too easily by drogba for their first. quality finish, keeper maybe could've done a little better but it would've been harsh to drop him for friedel.

the 2nd goal worries me if this ref is supposed to be one of the best, he's guessed and confirmed going off mata's celebration. this is incompetence and not good enough.

our goal, i am still not sure why cech didn't walk, as us doing the right thing (scoring, not whining about the foul) has blown up in our face. i'm quite sure the chelsea players well telling luiz to stay down to let the situation boil over and the ref forget about the incident. it worked.

the biggest problem came from then though and that's redknapp's tactics, all he can do is attack. there would have been nothing wrong with slowing the game down and controlling and picking off a chance for a 10 minute period once we had a goal back. but no, redknapp takes VDV off, brings defoe on and we continue to push and get slaughtered on the counter as modric (again) is overran. lennon couldn't get into the game so why not bring sandro on to help?

chelsea probably deserved it as they wanted it more, we ran out of steam and need some new players. i'd start with the defence. we also need a voice in the team, someone to run the belief.

atkinson has spoken to redknapp and said he feels 'awful'. really? is that really good enough? i'm not so sure. spurs have had some abysmal luck this season, this wont be the last of it.

on a side note, chelsea fans who were booing was pretty poor form, as was mikel's kick, another incident the ref ballsed up.

hopefully redknapp will be approached this week, it can hardly get any worse.

Like Harry?

Pains me to say but yes.

I've always felt that he was the right man to get us of trouble and he did so emphatically but taking the club to a regular top four finish takes that little bit more. I was also under the impression the our ECL qualification two season ago came to prematurely.

It's time for Harry and the FA to come clean with his and their respective intentions. which has been handled poorly. Between them they have ruined a more than decent team who i'm ever convinced know what's going to happen come close.

the FA have ruined us, it is no coincidence. couple that with melon heads like rooney commenting on how redknapp is the right man for the job and they would be on very dodgy ground if it were any other industry.

if they don't approach him this week, redknapp should do the right thing and rule himself out.

I've beat the drum for a while saying that 'Arry has underachieved. I just hope that if / when he leaves Spurs can hold on to the first eleven as it's good enough to challenge for a top 3/4 spot.

I don't think you can blame the FA, Spurs have collapsed for the last couple of seasons about this time and that wasn't the FA's fault. 'Arry just isn't good enough to tide a team over to being a 'top' club.

No the FA haven't 'ruined' you, they didn't do it last year did they? 'Arry just isn't good enough to manage a top team. He's a tactical pygmy and is all too often caught out.

'Arry should not get the England job, nor should he remain at Spurs. It's because he's got family and close friends in the media that people think of him so highly, he plays golf with the people on match of the day / Sky sports and they're the ones leading the charge for him to be England manager, avoid all criticism of him and talk him up.

Is this too off topic? Or is it okay because it's Spurs talk?

You mean, this Semi showed what people should have picked up on over a ~30 year career? He's failed at turning Spurs in to a 'top' team, he's picked them up when he came in, but has failed to build upon that and has spent quite a lot of money.

I've said it all along, Spurs should sack him at the end of the season and look to bring in a ~better manager.

Let England have him, their mistake.

Also, as has been said before, nothing wrong with some healthy debate and talk about specific issues relating to a game or a team / transfers.

Tummy;21696181 but has failed to build upon that and has spent quite a lot of money. [/QUOTE said:
he hasn't spent quite a lot of money at all, that's been the problem

parker was a good bit of business, as was friedel. then he gets nelsen and saha for pittence/free to add experience but doesn't give them a constructive run.

pienaar, sign him, loan him back to everton? we have caulker, naughton, corluka out on loan. where's bentley, jenas, niko, dos santos fitting into this team? we have some decent quality in depth but as much as it is good to have a consistent line up, players need rest. modric is nackered and even the super fit bale is feeling it. we should've rotated on some games, not just the cup.

spurs need a big character upfront (adebayor looks like he can't be arsed anymore), a big character in midfield (though sandro may fit this bill) and definitely a big man in our back 4 (king and gallas are past it)

Bt baffled by this in relation to goal-line tech: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17725886

There are big questions for the FA too, about whether systems would be allowed in the FA Cup. Is it fair that, in fixtures between Premier League and Football League clubs, one side has the system and the other does not? This detail needs to be resolved.

???

Am I missing something here, surely having goalline tech will depend on the stadium being used, so in matches between Prem sides and football league sides, either both sides will have it (at a prem ground probably), or neither? It's not 'bring your own' where you roll up to the ground like a flash harry, "alright lads, mind if we plug this 'ere system in by the goal we're attacking, cheers fella"....

The whole joke of it is, football HAS to progress to video replays eventually, sooner rather than later, which will instantly make every single penny spent on goal line tech worthless, and that is of course assuming goal line tech works which afaik no one has confirmed nor tested it in all conditions. Unlike Tennis where Hawkeye has realistically a good overview of the entire area and no chance of a dozen players all over the goal line confusing things(though if its done with a radio signal from the ball passing a line, maybe that won't matter).

We KNOW video replay works, we've had it for years, EVERYONE at home can see almost every decision almost instantly and know if its right or wrong. This tech needs to basically go from sending the picture from the home screen to coming up with simple rules that allow the ref to see replays and to keep the game flowing. Loads of other sports manage this, give both managers 2 chances to question a decision, replay is checked, decision is given, if the decision gets overturned they get their challenge back, if not, they lose it. It works in just about every sport as it can't effectively be used to waste time, and video replay will end up with the right decision 99.9% of the time.

There will always be times video replays aren't completely clear, but going from what is at the moment horrendously poor accuracy over huge season defining decisions, to 99% accurate, is more than enough.

Goal line tech is a joke, and people don't seem to realise that Fifa are distracting everyone from an almost infallable system over video replay, with some lame goal line tech. How many decisions would that have changed this season in the FA cup and the league, 3 maybe? Video replay would have seen dozens of players correctly red carded, dozen's of incorrectly awarded penalties not given, hundreds of goals allowed or disallowed correctly.....
but people are now thinking goal line tech is great because it might change 3-4 decision a season? Its utterly laughable how easy it is to distract people.

Personally I've always thought the video replays could be shown on the stadium screen as opposed to ref having to run over to see it, people talk about incensing the crowd but, thats rubbish. Spurs fans were up in arms, correctly over the decision, chelsea fans were happy, if everyone saw point blank it wasn't a goal, Spurs fans would be fine, and Chelsea fans wouldn't suddenly go mental, they'd simply see it was a goal.

Likewise a player gets sent off and the home fans are going mental, but a video replay could show.... that it was the correct decision it would calm the fans down. Incorrect decisions wind up fans FAR more than correct ones even if they are against your team. I say that as it would then even save time of the ref having to go over and see a screen, also all the fans could as suggested see the correct decision, and the players, there would be less complaining/bad feeling all around the stadium, on and off the pitch.
