If you found £20 in a cash machine........

after reading through the comments- Why is it ok to steal?

A. Because if you didn't somebody Else would?

B. Because its their own fault they left it in there?

Does nobody want to do the right thing any more? This is one reason why I want to leave the country, the attitude that because other people do it means its the right thing to do. Its still stealing.

Jeez. Of course it's stealing....technically. What we're talking about is that "cut off point"....and how it differs between people. Or are you telling me you've never taken a pen from work......or watched something on YouTube that was technically copyrighted. Where is your cut off point? Be honest.

Oh, and you think leaving the country would change things? What country do you imagine has this squeaky-clean, Utopian society you dream of?

I'm a little confused at people saying it's stealing or it's theft.

If you find a penny in the street do you pick it up? If you find 5 pence in the street do you pick it up? If you find 10 pence in the street do you pick it up? If you find 20 pence in the street do you pick it up? If you find 50 pence in the street do you pick it up? If you find 1 pound in the street do you pick it up? If you find 5 pound in the street do you pick it up? If you find 10 pound in the street do you pick it up? If you find 20 pounnd in the street do you pick it up? If you find a wallet in the street do you pick it up? If you find anything in a skip do you pick it up?

Can anyone not remember the term 'finders, keeps, loosers wheepers?' ....

Stealing is stealing, whatever the form.

yeh, but it is the good kind of stealing.

All depends on whos stood inline or looking..

if its 20 quid, even if theres someone stood behind me and they saw someone infront of me leave it, then id give it them, but if there was no one behind me or watching then id take it.

if it was 300 quid and there was someone looking id take it anyway haha

If some of these machines take the money back in after a short while and credit the account (im assuming this after reading several posts in here, before this i'd never heard of a machine doing it), then is it possible to say draw a 20 note out, let it sit there, then place a 10 note on top and just as it's about to pull the money back in swipe the 20 leave the 10 and trick the machine into thinking it's just re-credited your account with £20?

Theft by finding. So you're breaking the law if you take it. Simples

I've left cash in a cash machine before -_- I was very hungover. Went back and was handed it by a man standing at the machine.

Funny thing was it was folded neatly in half, Cash machines fold money now! Awesome
