I think Raymond has been up to it again

Not just for you, but for the rest of us too. I'd say your wedding threads where comfortably the highest quality threads I viewed on the forum in the past few years.

Inspiration just seeped from your photos, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's painfully jealous of what you posted (clearly not judging by this thread).

We've been through this before, but it's sad that posts which show off such artistry and are almost universally admired, are taken from us. I'm sure at least 9999/10000 of us won't have you as a photographer at any event, but the remaining 9999 could still enjoy or take something from your work.

Thank you.

As to your first paragraph. I wish someone had answered that question when i asked directly instead of suspending me for a week would have helped massively.

Now I demand you to create a thread of your latest work in the Photography forum which we have missed. Or you get banned! :p :)

I stole my gfs laptop, so have now looked at base fees. Technically fiancée, hence why I was interested... That said the wedding won't happen for a few years. Might keep it in mind...

But yeah please Keep posting images, even if you just reduce the watermark to (c) Raymond Lin. Whilst some people seem a bit anti, for no apparent reason, I do really enjoy your photos....

Thank you :) (I am not going to say anymore as that is considered pimping!)

Watermarks...why? simple, photos get stolen, I have first hand experience of this and you can never be too careful.

I am also a member of another forum, a closed, vetted and subscription based for wedding photographers. Members are all around the world and the only members on there are professional. There are no brides looking for a photographer will get to see it. It is a place more to do about talking about the nature of the business, less about sharing photos (although there is a sub section for that, 1 out of like 20). Members on there still post images with a watermark. Why? Do they think they will get hired from their own competition? No, it is just part and parcel of the whole posting images online, because once it is out there, it is out there. You have no control over it. The only way to protect yourself is to put your name on it.

It is that simple.

To be fair though. If someone really needed a photo it's so easy to clone watermarks.

Metadata is a good to store information and is a better way to stop orphan images in my opinion.

But as you say, once it's out there it's out there.

Sure, it is a deterrent, at most, but at least it will stop the opportunista=s.

Agreed! :)

Personally though i feel it cheapens your awesome work when it's got Photography after your name because it's like... "Well, Duh" and also everyone and his dog does it now.

I wish i could claim i was the first ever person to have done that.....

p.s. when I put that on there I did weddings for fun, it wasn't even a business.

You could have just had a watermark of "WATERMARK" or "I LIKE TURTLES" if you were just worried about people stealing your photos, you didn't have to include your name.

No, because they are mine...hence the above on when it is stolen...so when it get posted elsewhere, people know I took it, not a turtle.

"Ray OcUK", then. Whatever.

I still reckon you could put pretty much anything... I'd say it doesn't even have to be directly attributable to you (in terms of including your name), as if anyone posted the pic with 'I live turtles' you could point out you have the raws, etc .

But then if someone does post his pictures elsewhere claiming them as their own, Ray's name is on them, people will google and see 'Oh, that's him!'

Can someone post the picture from the Post your GF thread where Raymond looks like an asian Ronnie Corbett and there's a girl with legs taller than his body? I can't remember whose wife she is.

As an aside, I think his pictures are good. Really good :)

I don't know how wedding photographers get away with it. 10 Years ago we paid £600 for a photographer at our wedding. The albums gathering dust in the loft as we speak.

Nowadays with friends/guests all taking their own Digi cameras there is no need to hire a photographer anymore. The whole day is captured.... for nothing!

Albert,

Walk in others shoes.

Did you think your photographer did a good job in your day?
Do you still have your wedding photographs?

The photo's are nice, but staged. Worth £600? no. The best photos from our wedding day are the candid shots other people took.
