New Samsung S23A700D 120Hz

Im using usb hubs now to power the adapters and still the same.
in 2d 120hz is great.

Quick update for you Daz

Just got the leads and had a quick test.

I hadn't set eyefinity yet but when I first booted with the Startech adapters plugged in I got the error msg and the center screen was black.

But in Windows "Screen Resolution" I noticed one of my monitors was just set at "Generic PNP" while the other two had "SyncMaster SA700_S23A700D (Digital)"
So I installed the Samsung Monitor Driver that came with the disc onto that monitor and I've not had the error msg again and eyefinity started all at 120Hz fine touch wood. Hopefully this might help.

EDIT* It didn't I just got that error myself when trying 120Hz eyfinity again :(

However I still get a DirectStereo3D error when starting Tridef3D and setting "AMD" "AMDHD3D Technology" ( which is FrameSequential the best 3D mode on these monitors) in the Tridef Control Panel

I still can only start Tridef3D in "Standard Display Types" "Line Interlaced" (which then means I have to change everything, monitors and Tridef to Above Below when in a game)

When games start I STILL only have two monitors showing 3D! (I still need to contact Maxlive from above about how he connected to all three)

Also the far left monitor is showing text in a very weird way like thin and hardly readable.

All in all I feel Ive just wasted over £500 and should have just stuck with the one monitor, which was great and upgraded my mobo so I can go Crossfire then getting the monitors in the future when AMD and Samsung sort this out

I wanted 3D in Eyefinity.
I was told that these adapters should sort it but they didn't so I might look into returning two monitors and the adapters if I cant get this running.
I'm scared to try new ATI drivers after the trouble I had the other day but am going to try a few things and will report back.

Got mine just now. Looks like I have 3 dead pixels in the bottom right. I've lived with my old monitor which had a line (it was a bug, a real one) about half a millimetre long in the centre so I probably won't bother sending it back. Other than that it looks amazing so far.

Exact same as me sometimes u get 3rd screen out of focus even when not in 3d. u have to turn monitor on and off again. keep getting display port failure.
3d over 3 screens does not work even when Gibbo said it did. i sent a ticket to customer services yesterday and got no reply. sound like they know it dont work and there advertising it does, to me this is fale advertising. i have reformated purchased adapters even better dvi cables and and usb hubs to find still the same. let me know how u get on m8. and wont even do 3d just using monitor conversion over 3 screens and this is not software. sounds like to me there tried 1 game like iracing that dont have text. so they dont see its out of focus. :( not a happy chappy here at all. sorry about the bad english its not my best subject ;)
im in the same boat as u wanted 3d eyefinity.

Hi Daz

I think I may have found the problem and fix although its far from perfect.

Basically the Tridef game profiles are not made for Eyefinity and need adjusting to suit the three screens.

I just had a quick try of Dirt3 and still wasn't getting 3D on all three. The right hand side was still doubled. Tridef support even said they too have problems with syncing all monitors at times. So I turned the monitor on and off and it still looked wrong somehow.

I fiddled around a bit with the in game Tridef menu changing eye settings and depth and eventually it fit. I tried it a few races and some times it seemed off and others it seemed on.

I just tried Skyrim and Deus Ex and with a little configuring in the Tridef menu they both worked too!
Obviously it throws a few other things off at times like cross-hairs or a certain view mode is slightly askew but Tridef did that on a single screen 3D when changing the settings. They were definitely all in 3D after a few adjustments and they did look pretty great, so fingers crossed I think this was the main problem. Tridef game profiles just aren't adjusted for eyefinity!

I did try Crysis 2 and BF3 though and had a few problems so not sure if all games will work.

My Tridef Control Panel settings are:

MANUFACTURER: (standard display types)
MODEL: Line Interlaced

This means after booting game you have to select
Output: Above Below in the Tridef menu
and then change each monitor to Top-Bottom mode in the 3D menu.

When using AMDHD3D for Frame Sequential I still get the DirectStereo3D error msg and SBS doesn't work either so Tridef told me to use the above settings.

As I say not perfect at all, as I expected to be able to use FS and just boot games in 3D. Not all this messing about. Especially after forking out for them adapters.

I still think ATI, Samsung and Tridef could do with sorting this out but I fear it could be only you and I with this unique problem :)

Also I got that DisplayPort error msg about twice too over the past few hours. I'm not sure what this could be.
I do also get it in 2D also but not a doubling effect but that weird blurred/skinny text problem.

I'm still not 100% happy as its a bit of a pain having to start games and having to swap modes and stuff each time.
I don't think I really needed these Startech adapters although BF3 looked amazing all at 120Hz 2D even though I was only getting around 40fps.

So I'm going to give it a few more tests tonight and see how it goes in other games. It's still not running as I was told it would but If it is the case that its the Tridef profiles that need adjusting I may just bite the bullet and keep it all, hopefully with ATI drivers and updates sorting out the other problems like the DirectStereo3D error in FS, the DP and syncing issues in the future.

So give this a try and let us know how you get on Daz really hope this helps dude!

Also your English is great mate I'm a native and can barely type it at times:)

So currently using a Nvidea GTX460 and 3D works great with this.
I am upgrading to a AMD 7950, apart from fps increase because more powerful card, is there anything that I gain from having an AMD card over the Nvidea with it being marketed towards AMD??

The few things(that I know of) is the native support for 3D in a select few titles like Deus EX HR, Alan Wake and Sniper 2(if it's exclusive to AMD), possibly more to come and the fact that Tridef support for 3D using Nvidia gpu's is near non existent.

The good thing about the monitor though is it can be hacked to run with Nvidia 3D, so your not tied into AMD(unlike Nvidia 3D).

I'm guessing this is Nvidia altering something within the drivers so it does not work, I read somewhere that Nvidia 285 drivers worked but newer drivers don't...

Hi there

REMEMBER 7th of May is deadling for claiming VAT back, so not much time left to bag a bargain, otherwise you will miss out on the 20% saving.

You can run Nvidia 3d using hacked drivers with an AMD gpu?

No, it's the other way around, you can hack the Samsung driver to enable Nvidia 3D to work on the Samsung with included Samsung glasses, without having to buy the Nvidia 3D glasses saving you a considerable amount of cash and leaving you with the option of being able to swap gpu vendors and not be tied to any one 3D tech.

From what I gather, others have been asking in various threads, whether there is a hack to enable an AMD gpu to be used in conjunction with their already purchased Nvidia certified 3D monitor + Nvidia 3D glasses kit(which I don't have a clue if it can be done).

guide to get nvidia 3D working

Steps taken

1. Download and install the 3d vision emulator

http://hotfile.com/d...ulator.zip.html

2. run the DSF-KitSetup.msi file

3. Run the init_x64.bat file (running win 7 64 bit)

4. run the enablestereo.bat file, but the console window just immediately closes?

make sure u run all .bat files from command prompt

let windows install the new usb device - THIS IS WHERE IT GETS STUCK

5. go to nvidea 3dvision set up and install the 3dvision usb emitter option

6. go through all the menus

Now you need to make the following changes

(if you've already attempted to install, go into device manager find the device its trying to install and remove it - might be called generic hid or along those lines)

Before you do anything you need to disable Windows from fetching drivers from windows update else it will download drivers you don't want and won't work (System > Advanced System Settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings > Never install driver software from Windows Update)
Next thing you need to do is alter the init_x64.bat and remove the /i /s option from the regsvr32 then when you run it this time you should get a message confirming it was successfully installed.

After running enable_stereo.bat you'll need to download nvidia drivers version 285.62 and extract the files but don't install anything. Go into device manager and find NVIDIA steroscopic 3d usb controller, right click and update driver software > browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Have Disk... > Browse to "C:\nvidia\DisplayDriver\285.62\WinVista_Win7_64\English\NV3DVisionUSB.Driver" (alter as appropiate if you selected to extract the driver files somewhere else). Let it install those drivers which it should do successfully.

You need to install custom drivers so your pc thinks your monitor is 1 that works with nvidia 3D. I used the alienware 120hZ driver

you'll want to use a different .inf from another monitor as the .inf in that link does not support 120hz 1080p. The one I used is the Alienware AW2310 Active 120hz monitor one from here:http://3dvision-blog.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2025&start=10.
Then you should be able to run the nvidia 3d vision setup wizard fine. However, one thing I had to do was swap the l/r image on the monitor (you can do this via the osd on the monitor in the 3d options) as you'll find if you don't change it when it asks you to test the left/right images on the setup wizard they'll be the wrong way around.

one of my power bricks just buzzes all the time, well they all do, but one is noticably louder, could i just rma the brick rather than everything? cos the 3 i got are perfect :x

The glasses where smashed on mine and I had to send the whole lot back even though the monitor looked free from dud pixels. I spoke to Samsung and they insisted.

Hey Gibbo, is it absolutely necessary to get an Active adapter for AMD 3D with this monitor? Saw it on special today and I'll be buying one if there's any way I can use the DL-DVI for 3D on 7970's

You don't need an adapter only using one monitor, it comes with a DL-DVI cable which plugs directly into your gpu.

Absolute cracker of a monitor and OCUK are almost giving it away at this price!
