How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

Hi from Canada!! :) very nice thread so after reading it i decided to buy and asus dc2 7850 i reached 1200/5800 but 1.235mv was required :S is that safe for 24/7 usage also temp never go above 62degree with the fan hitting 60% on a custom profile

here is other stats with my i5-2500k @ 4.2ghz and unigine score(with the setting u guys are using)

1100/5400 1115mv score 1353 temp 59
1125/5800 1175mv score 1388 temp 59
1150/5800 1190mv score 1410 temp 60
1175/5800 1225mv score 1432 temp 61
1200/5800 1235mv score 1451 temp 62

i see a lot of chip getting 1200 with MUCH LESS voltage is mine normal or ??

Some chips are more stable than others. It looks like your one isn't amazing I'm afraid. Nor is mine.

Any of you happen to have the AvP Benchmark and Avp Tool installed?

If you do, would you mind running it at max settings / 1920x1080 and post your average fps please?

I'm looking to change from a 560 Ti clocked at 1000core / 1175mem, and I've decided its between a 7850 or a 2nd hand Gtx580.

In Heaven 3.0 I'm around 250-300pts behind a 7850@1200core, and around 750pts in 3DM11 using the Performance preset.

I'm just curious how much quicker a 7850@1200 would really be in games, assuming I could get those clocks to begin with that is, and if it would be worth switching.

Guys I have just bought a MSI Radeon HD 7850 Twin Frozr OC

Can you give me some stable overclocks that it should easy do, to test it as I have no idea what to increase being new and all

Thanks so much ! :)

First make sure it benches fine at at stock. then in CCC try 1050core and bench with that. this is the default max clock allowable in CCC so I reckon everyone here would be extremely surprised if it didn't run fine. If thats ok, d/l asus tweaktool 2.0.8.3 I think is the latest or the latest "trixtool" from sapphire. Unlock the advanced overclocking in both whichever tool you're gonna use and set the core overclock at say 1100mhz core, leave voltage alone for the time being and bench at those settings. If all is ok, bump up core speed by 10mhz in steps and bench until the pc crashes/ freezes. Up the Vcore voltage by s small amount, say 0.005v, and try again and keep upping volts until the card is stable. Slow and easy is the key here, I reckon you should be able to get at least 1150core (quite a conservative o/clock compared with some in this thread) and 5800 memory. What voltage is needed is down to the individual gpu core, some will do 1200 with nigh on stock volts, and some need 1.2v or more to do 1200, and a lot of cards won't do 1200 no matter what volts you shove into them. Mine 'frinstance is happy at 1150 core, 5300 memory at 1.185 volts and will bench at 1175 core.
Now, lastly keep an eye on your temps all the time you're doing this. Most will top out at about 70c ish when running Heaven benchy, but in game the temps might go higher (it does on mine when playing crysis 2 'frinstance) so don't just go by any benchies as an indication of a stable o/clock, run a few games as well as these might push the card harder. :)
As always, all overclocking is done at the user's risk, you can't guarantee anything in this game

Mine goes up to 77C in Heaven, is this okay? It's actually 20C cooler in BF3. I'll check with some other games later. I've set the fan profile so it won't ever go above 80, and is unlikely to go above 78 ish.

Yours might be about the same as mine, needs voltage higher than everyone elses to get even a reasonable o/clock. If you can do 1150 at say, 1.175v core, then thats in the same ballpark as me, give or take a few millivolts. Your temps appear to be reversed with mine, I get higher in game temps than when benching, heaven that is. My temps on the other hand are extremely low as I've got a gelid cooler on mine which gives storming cooling, never seen me card go above 45c-50c load since putting this on. :)

Well after a few days of trying some OC profiles iv finally found the limit of my asus EAH7850.

1220/5800 @ 1.165v

Achieves a unigine run of:

1373

54.5 fps average
10 fps min (seems a tad on the low side to me) probably my cpu.
124 fps max

temps topped out at 66 on unigine heaven and idles around 30.

Intel i3 2100 @ 3.1ghz.
asus eah7850 direct cu.
8gb corsair vengeance @ 1333mhz.
Asus h61 mobo.
coolermaster gx 650w psu.

Very pleased with this card. Not bad coming from an eah6850. Although im thinking my daily clock settings will be a little less demanding not confident on running it at them volts for days on end.

With 1150/5800 on 1.225V. Any higher clock, or any lesser volts means a crash on Heaven.
CPU overclocked to 3.6GHz but don't know if that makes a difference.
Temps go to around 70C in Heaven but stay at 47C idle.

I have the sapphire 7850 non oc model. My top clocks are 1150/5800 at 1.215v but temps never go higher than 64c. Suppose that's down to the twin fans.

My heaven scores were 1380 (i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz)

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble adjusting the voltage on my Powercolor 7850. It's a reference model card. I can't move the voltage up or down from 1.2v. I've tried messing with all the settings in the Asus GPU Tweak tool, and I've tried both the current version and the one previous.

I'm only able to hit 1150mhz on the core at 1.2v, but I have better cooling on the way and I'm hoping to hit 1250mhz at 1.25v or so.

Any help would be appreciated.

MSI Afterburner isn't working either. I can't change the voltage at all in it.

Hey folks,

Registered because of this thread. I've got a a Asus 7850 DirectCU2 (stock volts 1.075) card currently running at 1150core and 5400memory with 1.115v as my 24/7 overclock. Temperatures max out at about 60oC, fan never goes above 40% when set to Auto. I can push the memory clocks to 6000 at the same voltage however it only adds a couple of fps. I think I can go higher on the memory but I haven't seen anyone go above 6000 and memory cooling on GPUs tends to be none existent.

Benchmarks (1150/5400)
Heaven (standard settings in 1080p)
1391

3dmark11
P6235
GPU6359

Crysis (bench tool, Time Square, Ultra, 1080p, edge blur, High res textures)
56.9fps (no AA)
53.3fps (with 4xAA)

At 1150core I seem to hit a wall, to get to 1200 I need to up the voltage to 1.18v. I'm not comfortable running at this sort of voltage and again it only adds maybe 1-2fps.

Asus GPU Tweak v2.0.8.3 won't allow voltages above 1.165v. Anybody have any ideas how I can increase this range or will I just have to use the older version of GPU Tweak?

so CCC in drivers 12.4 allow OC'ing up to 1840mhz!!!

but i have no idea how the "enable power settings" works. it's a percentage. my stock voltage is 1.075, so would 1.176 be 9.4%? i'm skeptical about adjusting that slider at all...
