iRacing

btw i read time trials are good for getting up your rating while rookie,, but yet when running the mx 5 club and i select TT there are never any available,, what am i doing wrong

yeah its a great site for reviews and such..

the tt thing must be something to do with it being week 13 as normally theres alwasy tt events there.

yeah tt is good to build SR but you dont get as many SR points from doing tt's, best thing to do is do the full 30 mins but dont get and inc points...

Sorry to jump into a thread guys, but am currently looking to get into Sim Racing. Had a few dabbles with rfactor and the like many years ago and did enjoy it but other things got in the way. Now building a new pc and wanting to get into racing. Bought a G27, new seat and am looking to build a fully enclosed gaming/racing cockpit.

Had a search on here but cant see any threads on cockpit building etc. Any ideas???

we havent really talked about that mate TBH.

what would you want to build it out of, i know loads of peeps over at the iracing and isr forums use 80/20 ally tubing but im not sure if thats readily available in the uk.

i use a obutto gaming cockpit ATM, but love the custom ones...

is my steering wheel set up wrong ? as when i go into the game settings it says my steering wheels lock is 882 degrees ( should it not be 900 ? ) even after i calibrate it ,, yet i have it set to 900 degrees ok in the logitec profiler under the "global device settings" as per the read me in the beginners guide

Just tried the Paul's new Radical setup, quite liking it tbh, be interesting to see how it matures into a full race setup...

i known it aint nowt to do with iracing but damn i liked that vid and the save the guy does at the end is just epic...

Seen the bit on the save before but not that vid of the full lap, the save is pretty special though, bet the journalist needed new underwear after that :p

I'd love to ride the Mountain course properly, 'all' I need to do is get my national licence and save up enough and I could do the Manx GP, which would be pretty special, one day... :D

The in-game '882' degrees is based on the bit of calibration when it asks you to turn the wheel 90 degrees, ultimately it's not going to make any real difference with that small an error but personally when I'm doing that bit I ignore attempting to get 90 degrees on the wheel and just aim to get the readout saying 900 degrees rotation :p

Also with the TT's as GraveYard said it's just because it's week 13, they'll be back on Tuesday :)

ive just done a few laps with it aswell.

the back end gets loose alittle easy for me but it feels good, but the pace is there with it.

im on about the same pace with that set as i am with the my set we used for the world cup think i might be a tad faster with mine but thats cos im comfortable with it.

on my set think i lowered the from bump down 1 click and the front springs down 1 click, as the NNTM has made it slightly more understeery...

but knowing paul and the knowlage he has and is building on the radical im sure he is gunna make some epic sets...

Yeah, I found it tail happy at times, although at others I seemed to do something right and it was just hooked up, I did find the slides more controllable though...

Your setup is very good, but even with the NNTM I'm not sure I'm ever 100% comfortable when the car is sliding, I'm still not with Pauls setup but it's closer, and I know from the skippy that it's only when I get 100% comfortable with the car sliding that I can be as quick and consistent as I need to be...

ive only done a couple of runs with my set since update, so ill mess with it next week, ill give pauls some more time aswell..

im never happy when the car is sliding with a 17 wing full stop it always feels like its gunna let go, but it is more controllable now esp in the last turn at the glen now im a lot more confident powering and sliding through there, pauls set felt better through there for sure but with the couple of runs ive done with both sets im struggling through T1....

My initial 3 month subscription is finishing later this month and I am properly hooked to this game. I was looking at the renewal options and will probably go for a one year subscription.

I have read about a promotion last year (July) where for the price of a one year subscription you also received some iRacing credits.

I can't see anything promotional codes at the moment for renewals, are anyone else aware of anything?

tbh i hope pauls sets turn out to be great and he posts them early in the week so i dont feel the need to make my own...
