Whats a decent gfx card that will run iracing on 3 x 24" monitors and is not overpriced as have to buy the 3 monitors as well. if i do take the plunge
Currently running 1 x 24" monitor with my 460gtx 2mb golden sample & Q6600 @3.6 with 8gig ram

another 460 to go sli or a amd 6950...
 
some idiot just stopped in the middle of the track on the last lap of the street stock race and took me clean out and i was in 4th...not impressed by that at all...

im running gtx 580 sli to run my 3..

josh(skill) is the man to talk to about that he runs a 6950 with 3 screens, im sure they run them at high setting no bother maybe drop the shadows...

I've got the reference 6950 board which can be unlocked to the full 6970 shaders (not sure if that's still possible?), was £160 on the MM a couple of months ago although not sure how much the extra shaders really help?

Anyway, I've got a similar system but a slightly higher clocked dual core rather than the quad, I run 1920x1200 on all 3. When I first got the 6950, and for a fair while, I was running everything on full and that was playable everywhere but Spa really, Suzuka was a bit of a hit as well though.

Since then I reduced the shadow level, turned off the higher detail in mirrors, both of which you barely notice, but also dropped the AA to 2x (although using in-game, I believe through the CCC is better but this 'just works'), I don't mind it but it's the only really noticeable change, after this I regularly see 150+ fps and not seen lower than 70fps so far...

lol i span myself just before that carnage so i cant blame nobody but myself lol...

but that fixed set aint right man its loose as anything...

yeah im well happy with that jump up to div 3...

school should be on dunno whats happened there...

btw i much prefer my set over any other now mate far more stable and it has got the pace lol, but again that could just be me being used to it, but i did give pauls a good go last night and it s good but just dosent suit my style...

Saw the half-spin and thought you might've overreacted to the 9 going into the wall, not sure you could see it that well when I re-watched from cockpit.

Just given it a try for a laugh, really weird setup, turns a bit really easily, then seems like a lot more force to get that last little bit of steering needed but 1 degree too far and it starts sliding, felt it settled after a couple of laps though? Did a 35.924 with a slight draft (but a compromised exit of 2 due to passing the guy giving me a draft :p) then a 971 and 981 with no draft, just had to be really careful with how much steering input and it seemed fine (racing would be interesting though with the odd set...)

heh, I'll probably give yours another go at some point, want to try Pauls with full fuel, know it works nicely in yours...

Are you planning to race on Thursday evening by the way? Just been told I'm off home sometime Friday afternoon evening so I'm only gonna get thursday evening (is a half-day though \o/), friday morning and a small chance of sunday evening to get some races in...
 
yeah im a total oval noob but it wasnt too bad after a few laps but no that spin was all me mate, that no 9 was blinking aswell for me..36.1 in practice and 36 flat in race was my best..

i dont like the small tracks the late model runs, shame really..

mate its my birthday friday so im taking the day off, ill be racing thursday for definite and ill give friday morning a shot if 1 goes live.

if you have steam add me mate...

I was running a 6950 2gb card with a q6600@3ghz over 3 screens with no problems at all with max settings. But changing to a i5 2500k with the same card made a truly massive difference in frames , even spa and suzuka are going 200+ while the q6600 was unto 80

no way 200+ frames on spa, no drops???

i have a i7 2600k @ 4.5 and 1.5gb gtx 580's in sli and on max mine drops to the 70's some times...

Wile following a race in ghost mode with likes of 6-8 cars on the screen at once the max my cpu was using waqs like 70-80% MAX over the 4 cores and no core ever went to 100%. but yes i know the likes of a 2500k would help a lot :) but i think if i go ahead and upgrade prio would have to be going 3 monitor set up :) which would mean money being spend on a gfx upgrade + 3 monitors.
