Guild Wars 2

I just wondered if theres going to be as much PBAOE in GW2 as there was in GW1. I'd love that to be in the game, especially on bosses with enough power to one hit kill anyone that doesnt dodge out of the way :D

Like in GW1 when you fought a HM elementalist boss and tried to just zerg in to attack it with a party full of melee with no protection spells .... Party wipe in 1 second! Fun.

Doing pretty much anything in HM with a full melee party and no prot is a wipe lol

The gameplay between GW1 and 2 have nothing in common in the slightest, for that I am glad, went back on gw1 to do my HoM stuff recently and it's really showing it's age, feels clunky and more than a little dull. Surprised that you can pretty much solo anything now with the ability to have 7 heroes if you have enough skills unlocked.

The second part happened because 90% of the community was fed up of playing with failure Wammos that did what the first part describes :D

The artificial intelligence was vastly superior to the majority of human intelligence in the game, like me completing all of prophecies in starter armour and two superior runes :p

GJ guys, thread is super interesting.

Anyone got any word on swapping to a new key on the same account from NC soft? It took me a day just to get an auto-response that was for "submitting your ping test for your disconnection issue". If you can say one thing for CJs CD Keys, at least their support is prompt and actually reads your problem.

So far I have been less than impressed with the GW2 Support, however I have finally got to someone who appears to 'get' the issue so i'm waiting on his clarification regarding the key I have sent them so hopefully once and for all we will know if this key is invalid/wrong region

The other matter of removing and changing the key I will cover with them and post here

I must admit I thought the Beta was great.

When people said they had low fps was that from seeing the figures using progs like fraps or was the screen stuttering etc? I played quite a bit of PvE including the closing event and didn't notice any lag so just wondered if it was noticeable while playing normally as opposed to noticeable from watching a counter?

I liked the fact that it was challenging it reminded me of earlier mmo that I used to play. I thought it made it more exciting having to actually think about things as you approached a situation, rather than just be able to rush in and expect to survive.

Did any of you do any of the dungeons? I believe there was a dungeon in the human starter area in beetle (something or other) as i never got round to trying that so wondered if others tried it and what it was like?

I didnt manage to find any dungeons, I heard that the first dungeon is the catacombs in ascalon which is a level 35 dungeon.

I actually hated the dungeons in GW1 because they took too long and I often DCed while playing them which is the most annoying thing ever, but I'm hoping the GW2 dungeons will be better.

you shouldn't take the performance of the Beta as indication of release day performance there was a lot of optimisation missing from the build we had over the weekend. it was still more than playable for me though. Still there were spikes of FPS death here and there.

Didn't do a dungeon but really interested in seeing what they've managed to do with the set piece type encounters for dungeon bosses and the combat system.

Here is an Article about gw2 dungeons, if they are actually like this and I can't see why they wouldn't be then they sound fantastic. I hope we get to keep our chars from bwe1 in bwe2 so i actually stand a chance of getting to a high enough lvl to try one

Had some real up's and down's in beta so far. At times I find it such a great game but other times just find it a bit boring. I guess its about learning all there is to about the game and the mechanics to get the most out of it. I know that playing an Engy is def boring but when I started an Elementalist, started having a right blast!

Did you not have a... blast... with the Engineer too?

:D

I have a feeling I may end going down the melee route for the first time. Warrior and Guardian both seemed to play quite well, whereas my usual staples like the Engineer and Ranger type classes didn't really seem all that exciting to play.

I also found that once I'd finished the beta and started playing Mass Effect 2 again, I was double tapping my keys to try and roll in to cover. :o For a mechanic I was a bit concerned about, I got used to it very quickly indeed.

On a few pages back some peeps said that GW2 isnt a real MMO, what do they mean by that? I thought everything in GW2 was open world now?

The story is instanced and the map is not continuous. So you'll still load into a new area, but those zones are now massively multiplayer whereas with GW1 the only MMO zones really were the towns and they weren't exactly massive.
