Lol in my defense I did say they were American, I didn't subscribe.

I was also interested to see how different the whole industry was over there with networks changing the shape and spec of phones another point was that some of the comparisons were of a US One X and an international S3 which apparently make the S3 look better than it would against an international One X.

Not, I hasten to add, that I would expect such august personages as you guys to be fooled.

i dont like those cases, i have to say i quite like gel cases, and with the back of this phone looking how it does, need something that covers it!

What kind of 3rd party back covers are you guys expecting? A different shape to them, or just an image to kinda break the "ugliness" or what?
I suppose a brushed aluminum colored (or actual metal) back would be pretty cool, since the sides are metal right?

I personally just can't wait to get away from the iphone and being able to use storage card and drag and drop files and not have to use itunes!

Yeah, it always drove me nuts how Apple users couldn't access the internal storage very easily to transfer files!

Going by the youtube samples from One X camcorder, it has 2 mics but doesn't record stereo audio, anyone confirm?

I would think two mics on a phone is almost pointless, being so close together... The point of Stereo sound is to get the effect of Right vs Left sound, (an extreme example is an explosion in a movie off to your left). Two mics so close together on a phone will basically just pick up the same sound, so what's the point? enlighten me if there's a good reason though, please!

I'm honestly disappointed in the color choice, just like everyone else is... I'll likely be getting white, since it's more neutral. Unless they come out with some different colors before it comes to the US. I wish they had a gunmetal gray brushed aluminum type color. That would have been a winner I think. Doesn't copy Apples Bullsh!t color patent ****, and it's better than blue...

You have "English (US)" spell check enabled instead of "English (UK)"

Americans spell/pronounce "Aluminium" as "Aluminum" and we spell/pronounce it the proper way

Right click on the post/comment box and go to "languages" and choose the proper language.

You guys in the UK spell it "Aluminium"?! haha it makes some sense, because that sounds like more of an elemental thing, e.g. perdiodic tables and such.

You lot can all argue about a few pounds here or there on good deals for this new phone! Just consider yourself lucky, it is so much cheaper in the UK!!
States, this phone (a long with all new phones) will be $70 p/m AND $199 (maybe $299). Granted you get unlimited everything, but still! Oh and a 2-yr contract

I agree man, I'm looking at all these guys' deals in the UK, and how they can upgrade whenever they want for not TOO much money, it makes me jealous! We're literally LOCKED in contract, because we don't have any of the pay X pounds a month for phone AND service included, I'd like that much more than initial cost of the phone PLUS $70 a month. Luckily, I have a family plan with my parents still to save some money, so I'm only paying $40 a month for unlimited data and messaging, I'm not sure how many minutes we have, but I rarely call for more than a couple minutes.

£1.46 here or 2.35$ ish there.

I'm looking for a new video camera and its 8500$ over there and its 10,300$ here!

i find it also quite useful in the car.

green for missed call,
blue for gf text
Dark blue for gf missed call .. lol
pink for text
white for 100% charge
red for low bat
gold for charging
orange for email

right now i can see i have emails, texts and its charging
purple for no signal - surprisingly useful

Do you use a different messaging/launcher app to change all those colors, or does that come included in ICS now? I'm stuck with 2.2 right now, so I don't know all the luxuries of the newer and newest OS

Just bought a Mofi pouch for the SGS3 for £2.90 delivered.

I might need to invest in one of those I've never cracked a screen in my life (Knock on wood), but knowing how life works, I would crack the phone I paid the most for (SGSIII) if I don't go to every measure to protect it!

However, it does use that time to autofocus a bit better than the GN.

I've wondered how well the autofocus is on devices with zero lag...

Well the Sena one will be newly designed for the S3, so probably not. They aren't particularly cheap though!

AHHH, sena cases! I used to have one for my 1st gen iTouch, and I loved it. I think that will be the case I get!

Gel cases are hard to slip in and out of the pocket though, unfortunately... They offer good protection though!

Aye hopefully! Just awaiting some "proper" camera comparisons to surface though as initial tests dont exactly put the S3 in a positive light when put against the One X - was hopeing this would be the handset where i could finally do away with my old canon point and click but doesnt look to promising

Yeah, but as I said there's no proof that those earlier pictures even came from a Galaxy S 3!

The indoor ones from the event are genuine but aren't really indicative of anything as all phone pictures suffer a bit in low light/odd light.

My contract costs ~£30. I paid Orange £60 on the 26th March and then had another bill through on the 24th April for another £60, which i have now paid and they are charging me again on the 9th May.

They've been doing this for months. Will having a right old moan to mobiles.co.uk and saying "it's gonna take me an awful lot to stay with you and Orange after the **** they've given me" help towards me getting a really good deal on the S3?

Imho the best deal is the cheapest most usable package, no padding out with thousands of unusable mins and texts to make the high price sound better, so 300 min is fine unltd text is good but overkill and 100mb data is a risky false economy, I'm sure I've seen a 3 deal for about £31 that had usable but not extreme min and text but had unltd data, so for £20 a year your data needs are taken care of.

Why have a limited S3 when you could have an unltd S2 or One X for a fiver a month less and have all your data needs catered for, if £20/50 a year mattered to me I would have a free refurb'd Galaxy Ace unltd for about £4 a month and be damn happy.

As I say it's all just opinion and only yours should matter to you for something like getting a phone.

I agree completely mate. 100mins is enough for me most months but i like to have 200-300mins just to cover myself for when i do go over. Unlimited texts seem a standard within any deal these days. I think 500mb data is relevant to what i'd probably use.

Some of us just love to have the most up to date technology. It's kinda sad i know, but we all want it.

Even if the mics are close together it doesn't matter as you still get stereo sound and it's still infinitely better than mono sound!

Camcorders have stereo mics and you can buy stereo mics that jack into them where the mics are even closer together!

But if both mics are picking up the same input how is that any different to mono (other than being able to call it stereo)?

On my S there is obviously the mic on the bottom and the other mic is on the top of the phone beside the 3.5mm audio jack so I imagine it will be the same for the X as well
