I think I know what the real world is like already - in fact perhaps it's things that are going on in the real world that are the underlying issues.

Anyway, don't want to appear to be (insert whatever in here ;)) so hopefully I'll be back with added muscle!

Eat. Sleep. Rest chap :)

As well as that, don't stress, it won't be good for the gym :) That's what I've managed to learn after some wise words from various forum members ;)

I had my first real go at bench press last night, managed to do 46kg before i felt a bit unsafe without spotter, i was quite please with it, i weight 70kg so i was thinking, woah thats over half of me lol

I felt a bit of pain in my right wrist, i think its not strong enough to lift that loads yet.

I don't follow a diet plan though really - somedays I fancy x, some days y - sometimes I'll have LOADS sometimes I just fancy less. My lunch changes, and dinner is hugely varied. The only thing that is 90% set is my breakfast, just because it's so bloody tasty! :D

I couldn't eat the same thing day in day out. I'm sure without measurement and purely by experience and how my body "feels" I get all I need. It gets harder when it comes to adding some weight as you do have to eat significant amounts.

I guess I could work everything I eat - but it would serve no good to me.

fair game :)

Wish I had more of an open mind with food and knowing what to eat...Otherwise I'd change my lunches every so often and dinner etc...

What do you do for Breakfast normally?

You're saying this to the guy who hasn't deviated much over the last 2 or so months (last weekend was my first cheat meal in ages and it did wonders for my body), and has made awesome progress as a result of it.

So yes, stick to the diet plan!

That comes with experience and a love for food! :D

I can tell if I'm not eating enough or too much, or if I'm lacking in energy or focus, I just tweak my diet accordingly. :)

Breakfast most of the time (at least 4 days a week) is smoked mackerel with a couple of poached eggs. I used to have 2 fillets, and some porridge or yoghurt and fruits - but now it's just the 1 fillet and 2 eggs. It's still over 550 cals and over 40g of protein and 40g of fat so keeps me satiated till lunch usually - unless I'm active, in which case I'll get some carbs in too.

I have been, I've been having chicken for lunches for the last 3 years or so :o

Cool :)

Need to look at some other oily fish types, I like mackerel, but I'm not a fan of cooking it...Always comes out odd for me.

brb, dismissing possibly the best oily fish because I personally can't cook it

Can't you cook it in a less Delvis :/ type way? So to speak

;)

What are people's views on dealing with a cold? I'm currently suffering from one, and haven't trained since last Thursday because of it. This is sort of making me anxious as I've been showing good progress lately, and this forced hiatus is most unwelcome. (I think my body is even actively trying to sabotage me). Is it ever a good idea to try and sweat out a cold as some have suggested?

I must admit that I'm sorely tempted to hit the gym tonight after college, and perhaps give it half an hour on the cross trainer to see if that does anything to shift it. And in future I think I'll start taking multi-vitamins to see if this reduces the chance or frequency of this happening.

As long as my nose isn't streaming or I'm spluttering everywhere I will still go and do a light weights week with some easy cardio. Just to stay in the groove. I have had several colds this year and haven't had a day off. Might be a link there though :)

Delvis I buy those little tins of mackerel and just slap it out onto my scrambled eggs. I think chicken is over rated, I almost never eat it. Salmon is my staple.

It may be the best, but if I didn't like the taste of it, I'm not going to eat it :) The only time I've liked it so far is when it's eating from the tin in Tomato sauce :p Which naturally is naff, and bad value for money or what have you.

Just buy the smoked version ,you don't need to cook it! Or just whack it under the grill for a minute if you want it hot.

From where? Might be worth a try.

unless you are training for something specific i'd say take a day or two more to allow your body to recover.
You aren't feeling well, your body needs all its energy to make you better. You going out and running yourself down more will delay recovery.

Having said that, if you want to train, just do it at an appropriate intensity level :)

I did buy those, but thought I'd try cooking it myself...And yeah, tasted terrible.

Not to mention they're 90p or something for one tin :p

Yes...I'm still poor :(

But you said you don't like it it because it comes out odd when you cook it

Buy the chilli, lime and ginger mackerel from the Tesco fish counter, £1 a fillet. It will blow your socks off. Would literally wrap my manhood in said fillets and hip thrust into thin air as a gesture of my appreciation for how awesome they are

Yeah they are a bit expensive tbh.

I don't really like fish that much, but it serves a purpose. I used to gag a little bit when I started eating salmon. I just forced it down though!
