Apple's updated MacBook Pro rumored to arrive this summer will feature Nvidia graphics alongside Intel's Ivy Bridge processors, a switch from the AMD GPUs in the current models. The news comes to us directly from a trusted source, and it's further corroborated by Joanna Stern at ABC News, whose sources also tell her that the new machines will indeed feature high resolution Retina Displays.

So there we go, looks like the benchmarks are legit! Surprised at the move to NVIDIA! And it looks like a retina display is a go go :p :)

Well this is all very frustrating, considering I only bought my new MacbookPro in January!

I know the feeling, but at the end of the day you can't always wait for the next model to come out. Performance will always improve, you'll find that you'll be upgrading roughly every 4 years or so, so when you buy doesn't really make much difference.

Looking forward more to the real-world benchies :)

EDIT: Should also add that I'm particularly interested to see what how the new 13" Airs and Pros will perform. I'm expecting less of a performance boost there. That said, I'm not buying new machines, too much hassle!

Glad of the switch to Nvidia, hopefully that will give a much needed GPU boost to the Adobe products. Looks like a new MBP is on the cards to replace my struggling 2008 model.

These can't come soon enough, my old Dell is nearly calling it a day and have been holding out to pick up new new range of MacBooks when they come out.

That doesn't confirm the benches at all or even the rumours. All it takes is the modification of a single .plist file to modify the profile of one's Mac. Also home made Mac users have been running Ivy Bridge on Z68 boards with dev previews of Mountain Lion since the release. Just saying.

Did you read the article?

Sounds pretty solid to me. These sort of benchmark leaks occur just before a release quite often. It's likely a controlled leak from Apple.

Regina displays :) might just need to update my iMac if it comes true!

Indeed :D Looking forward to seeing these bad boys :) I've updated the WWDC with the latest rumours and a summary of what we may be expected to see soon :)

Fair enough no Superdrive, but no ethernet?

People are taking pictures of fan made mockups and rumours from sites a little to seriously. It's not been announced by Apple, nor have any actual pictures of what it looks like.

I'm sure it will have an ethernet port, it's a Pro model and many people require one to be able to use it in their Office.

Apple have never been one to shy away form dropping things they think are in the way. I'd swap it for a 4th usb port any day of the week, then just chuck in a £10 usb-ethernet thing for free with the laptop and everyone is happy (plus its the main thing dictating the hight of the mac book pro)

There won't be retina displays in the next model. Those "rumours" come from an ABC article, which have simply compiled the old rumours together.

It would be extremely expensive to manufacture, to say the least.

This.

If you look at the Ethernet port on current MBPs, if they wanted to make it any thinner they'd have to drop it in favour of TB/USB adapters.
