SPD's? I thought the same but after a while its 2nd nature. All you do is push your heel out and it unclips; you can set the sensitivity as well.

Havent fallen over yet...touch wood!.

Yea, currently im using some really old pedals from my first Carrera because i wasn't sure what way to go when i got my Boardman, i still do lol

So how hard is it to actually get out of them? i mean is it a big movement you need? also, with the shoes, i ride to Reading quite often, have a beer by the river, bit of lunch and that, then ride back. can you walk around in the shoes r is it a bit alien like walking in ski boots?

question to Canyon owners..

Saving up for new road bike, and other than the cycling plus bikes i wondering.

Canyon Al Di2 looks fantastic deal, but worried about the whole AL compared to Carbon, given the roads in the UK and doing longer distances on it, anyone have one?

The Ultimate CF 9 is another choice im looking into, but is the PRO worth the extra cost?? (SLX is nice also but too exspencive for me atm.)

It's not too difficult to get out. MTB pedals are easier to unclip than road pedals and also easier to walk around in.

I would go for the Ultimate CF 9.
I think it's better to get a good frame which you can upgrade the components on later rather than a cheaper frame with good stuff already on it.
I would personally choose the ultegra version but thats just because i like shimano and find their brakes/hoods more comfortable.

Thats what i thought, the thing is the AL frame is ment to be very good even though its AL. spec wise the Ultimate 9 +Di2 are pretty much the same, except for the Di2 +frame..

thing is, Di2 is soo good is it good enough to make up for the AL frame compared to carbon?

Have any of you guys ever painted your bikes? i was thinking of rubbing down my Boardman and painting it matt black
Yes, I've done a few. Satin black is a lot more durable and not as absorbant. I'd recommend it over matt black. It comes in hooge spray cans in Halfords Just rub the existing paintwork down with 240-grit paper and spray it over the top. 2-3 coats should do and you can touch it up really easily :)

Platypus painted his old single speed didn't he?

Speaking of which, I've not seen him post for ages.....

Yes, we arranged for him to visit me to go training, and he didn't bother to show up and didn't bother getting in touch to let me know. Waited in for him all day.

Never heard from him since.

I have no issue with steel or Ti frames being stripped and repainted, but carbon is not something I'd want to strip. I've read it can be done, but sounds like a complete mare :(

yea, ive got a load of paint left over from when i painted my karting helmet, a flip paint mountain bike could be interesting!

It's really easy to get out i'd say i have to twist my ankle about 2cm measured at the heal to get out. SPD shoes are easy to walk about in, the soles are rigid so it's not possible to walk normally but it's not uncomfortable at all.

yesterday had my bike checked and adjusted for free. My partner had her bike checked as well, changed pedals for new ones and new break pads for free, all thanks to action organised by Uni next to my work place and local council :)

on the other hand, had Michelin Pro4 Comp Folding Road Tyre on order from Wiggle... was waiting for a long while to get an email few minutes ago that next stock is due in mid June :/ joke...

could not find them anywhere else...any other good racing tyres worth looking at ? up to £40 per tyre ?

Continental GP4000S. The only tyre I use.

we have pro 4s in stock mate, trust me if you want

I'd leave the brakes until they start to fail if they ever get used in the winter.

I'm not sure how good those tyres are but thats what I would aim to change first and then maybe a decent set of wheels such as a kysrium elite in the future.

the guy had already upgraded it to Aksium Race and some Schwalbe Durano SE tyres
they any good?
