My mate jumped ahead of me last night on nightmare, up to act 3 while I'm on act 1.

Is there any downside to skipping the previous 2 acts and jumping straight into his game?
 
No point playing at the moment with the achievements busted. Given it cannot recall them I assume they wont be saving any new ones :-(
 
I think this proves that single player games requiring online login is not the way forward yet. I am unable to play atm because any achievements will not be logged and I could not play on the evening of release here in Europe because the servers were bugged. I had the same issue after buying Anno 2070 because Ubisoft activation servers happened to be down for the day.

Why are developers ignoring the truth about this method of copy protection? It does not work and actively encourages piracy when we cannot play genuine boxed copies of games we have purchased.

For this sort of thing to work we need servers that have uptime similar to 'proper' webservers; 99.9% or better. Otherwise, somebody, somewhere in the world will always be unable to use the product they have purchased.

Kind of like buying a new car and being unable to drive it this morning because the engine management system cannot connect to the Ford servers to checked whether a service is needed.....
 
Just logged in and am getting error 316921 (this player does not have a valid diablo3 profile) :(

I can select between my characters but it says level0 and profiles not working
hopefully it's just a bug or something they are working on
 
Finally made it to act 3 last night, i must be the slowest player out there. :D

I made some good sales on the AH and bought some top items for cheap. Definitely going to purchase all my items on AH from now on, not even bother buying from the tradesmen or crafting.

Yeah same here.

I am having major trouble in nightmare:( Only got 2368k hp for some reason and this really isn't helping!
 
Just logged in and it seems ok again now

Maybe to do with blizzard working on getting online viewable profiles?
Just being hopeful tbh haha :D

Only really logged in to check my items were there (everything seems ok as it was)
 
Er, unless something has changed it shouldn't be possible to jump in a game that is ahead of your current progress. So that question is kinda irrelevant.
 
just got my first char to Act II on normal, and yes I've been playing since Thursday (prior to that on a GPass) ... in my defense, I'm an Altaholic :p
 
I had error 316921 this morning. Just log out and log back in again. Worked for me.

As a side point, seeing as achievements are borked this morning, and I just defeated the skele king on Nightmare without it doing anything for me, I figure I'll stick to gold/item farming.

As such, anyone recommend a good place to farm? Normal/Nightmare. If nightmare, it'd have to be somewhere pre-skele king preferably...

Why? Its not as if you'll never progress through that point again. Unless you only plan on having 1 character, ever. And if you did only plan on having 1 char, you'd be missing out on a lot of other achievements so you can hardly be that interested in them.

One odd thing I noticed last night with my achievements though when I upgraded my Blacksmith to level 5. I seem to be missing the achievement for levelling up the Blacksmith :confused:
 
so just logged in to find all my stuff gone - lvl 35 monk totally naked at the start of Act 1 normal when I'd made it past the skeleton king last night in nightmare. the only things i have left are 2 of the components to make the staff as they are bound. I've never played anything other than single player.
 
My items and auctions are still there but my progress has gone. It says i am level 0 and name unknown and i tried logging in and out 3 times. Hopefully this is just a glitch, because if they have lost every ones progress, a lot of people are going to be ****ed off.
