I'm considering the U3011 at the moment too. I've got a DGM VA panel at the moment which has terrible screen burn at the top showing shadows of my browser tabs. Do IPS panels suffer just as badly from this or is it not really an issue?
With the sunshine today the anti glare coating is a godsend. Who wants to sit with the curtains/blinds closed just to see the screen? I helped a collegue at work today who's laptop had a glossy screen. Total nightmare; tilting my head this way and that. I'd take a screen like this over a glossy screen 100% of the time.I've decided to wait a little. I'm scared on splashing out over £800 and not liking the anti glare coating. Really I should go see some in store and decide for myself. I'm going to wait on the next generation of monitors if that's not too far away.
My guess is it will be early next year at the earliest.
Considering what I paid £800 is a bargain, but you always have the DSRs to fall back on if you don't like the coating. Honestly I've never seen the issue and as above it is often a godsend, especially in sunny weather although that will depend on which way the room that the monitor is used in faces and how much sun it gets.
Yes indeed. On days like this with light streaming in from the sides or facing the screen there is going to be extremely heavy diffusion of light. Matte surfaces don't really help in such situations - you'd still want to manipulate the lighting so to speak.
The next generation 30" monitor, if you want to call it that, may well come later this year. Probably around August or September going by Dell's usual schedule. LG have a new 30" panel in production for 2012 and if anybody will use that it will be Dell.

Good luck on your search!
