Just started hell mode, coming towards the end of act 1

Wizard with about 21k hp 4.5k dps (level 51) hardly to no resistances.

Ive tried to get gear from the AH, havent had much luck when it comes to drops.

Im getting destroyed by some packs in act 1, whats the best line of attack?

1- persist and keep wiping/slow progression
2- spend money on ah (doing so at the moment)
3- farm something? if so what exactly? (diablo on nightmare?)

thanks

sounds like something wrong with your setup.

anything running in the background stealing one of your cores or something?

Nah shut everything down, CPU is probably the only thing that could do with an upgrade on this computer as its only a duo 1.8, sucks if it is that :(

most likely CPU issue, only component being taxed in this game is CPU.

Damnit, might see if i have any luck on the laptop as thats a lot newer then the PC and AFAIK has a better processor...can the directory folder just be copied onto an external HDD and moved that way like you could with WoW? Saves the big download / install that way :p

only one way to find out :)

if it doesnt..wont be buying the game :( for a CPU upgrade i think that would also mean a MOBO upgrade, which is getting rather expensive to play a game that i should be able to play :p
if you think you should be able to play a brand new game on what sounds like very dated hardware, then your hopes are a bit high

I got moaned at for installing google chrome so I dont think installing diablo3 will go down to well....need solutions!!! :D
ouch! I've not read of any plans for a way to access AH outside of the game, so not sure of your other options.

If G18241 is able to simply copy the game across to another system, installing D3 onto a portable device of some sort may allow you to run the game without installing anything you're not allowed to. Although, I can't imagine they'd be too happy with you running the game

Starting to get annoyed on act 2 inferno now. Feels like I've died to everything. The champion packs are insane and some of them I can't tank, kite or do anything useful against them. Upgrading my gear seems to be the only way to go but the gear with more resist and vitality sells for well over 2 or 3 million.

I have no problems playing Batman AC / Fallout NV / Skyrim, all of which i feel are much more demanding games, if this game is CPU intensive that is the only part of this PC that hasnt been upgraded, but to do so for what is the only game so far i have problems playing, just doesnt warrant what it is going to cost...lottery win at the weekend will obviously sway this :p

The build Qik1 uses is okay. I used it for a while but as soon as I got up to around 300 resistance I am now using a 2 hander and mashing through inferno act 1 butcher runs and even holding aggro with champions.

This is the build http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVSRXk!VbX!bccZac

I use sidearm instead of vanguard.

His build is pretty good, but I think I'll definitely tweak it slightly. Call of the Ancients I don't think I'll use particularly commonly, so I might take that out. I've also got a massive crush on Ground Stomp, so I might keep that in my build... I'm not too sure yet though, I'll have to wait and see. At the moment I don't have to think about my build too much, but give it a week or so I'll probably be into the end of Hell/Beginning of Inferno, and then obviously I really will..

Wonder if my local tescos has one in stock, its £33ish on there c
Site but says they havent got any so im guessing that may mean none in stores also

Phone up and ask?

What a difference gear makes, on Nightmare on my Barb things were smashing me rather hard, I had 500 damage and 5k HP. A friend joined my game gave me some gears and I'm now at 1100 damage (with a shield) and 8k life, I literally take no damage now and I hit hard as a truck. I know it's only Nightmare and it will get harder but wow at gear difference!

Whichever way you look at it, without abusing some method you need a hell of a lot of good gear to get past act 1...

I've killed butcher without the cooldowns earlier, the barb just does so much dmg if specced for it, I can get up to 50% crit chance while having 300% crit bonus dmg, all squishy dps build and I can still tank his normal hits fine, just dodge the big smash and charge. Without any cooldowns ( wotb/insanity ) I can crit up to 170k with revenge and do 40-80k with frenzy. And it's not like my gear is amazing, I have only 590dps weapon.

Not to say anything bad about this guy as he's a good player but I'm sure I could have figured out a better tactic for that boss in 2nd vid. He could tank the fireballs easily for 5s with ignore pain and in that time could get the guy to half hp at least.
Or maybe go for the silly 100% dodge build with wotb/sprint/warcry.
I'm sure 15s will be plenty to take that guy down.
-----------------

What I like the most about barb is how well it scales with gear with all those % modifiers. Wanna go damage ? Can get way over +100% dmg permanently. Surv ? Lots of armor/resist/dmg reduction. Can even go dodge build or hp regen.

I find Cota pretty useful bursting down champions. Any fire chain packs become SO much easier once you get rid of one mob.

Farming Act 1 inferno at the moment, using

Frenzy (Sidearm)
Furious charge (Dreadnought) OR Revenge (Provocation)
Ground Stomp (Wrenching Smash)
Leap (Iron Impact/Death from above)
Ignore Pain (Ignorance is bliss/Mob Rule if grouped)
Wrath of the Beserker (Insanity)

Passives of Tough as Nails, Juggernaught, Superstition.

Working well for me, Act 2 is a step up though so need some more resists before progressing there!

Played a couple of hours tonight, up to level 10 now.

Killed the skeleton king pretty easily at level 9, will spend quite a lot of time on it tomorrow and crank through the game quite a bit more.

Need to choose a passive skill path now so got some reading up to do.

I was using one weapon with shield before was about 20dps.

Then got a good off hand weapon, only increased by DPS by 2, despite the weapon being an extra 15dps, not sure why?

Having a bit of a saga with a pair of set boots.

Bought them for 1million, used for a while and relisted for 2 million.

Someone bought them from me, relisted for 2.5 million, I bid on them, but someone paid the buyout and has relisted them for 3.5 million.

Worst part is I have massive sellers remorse as they were fantastic. :(

I think i need to do some farming, completed act I then got killed a lot by ACT II

im level 16 on wizard, with weapon power of about 21.9.

using ice shield, stomp, and skull damage.

Hoping to complete Hell with my Barb some point today.

How hard is Diablo on hell? If the fight is anything like Belial it should be a walk in the park!
