That's really the point. The search for that rare/legendary that has almost perfect stats for you. If all legendary's were exactly the same, it would just be a case of picking one & goldfarming, since the market's already flooded.

If I knew how bad this is I wouldnt spend my cash on blacksmithing, it's just totally pointless. I've got to lvl10 and the other day I tried to craft some lvl60 pants, made 4 pairs the whole thing costed me around 350k+ and the options I got were so damn bad that the best I could do is sell it to merchant for 3k, nobody would even buy it for 5k from AH it was that bad.

I guess what they could do is put an extra option where you can choose at least 1 out of the 4 or 5/6 stats for lvl60 rares. Say u can craft lvl60 armor and u would be able to choose at least 1 of the options, say str, vita or all res. Ofcourse the amount could still be random along with the other options but this way at least you wont craft totally useless stuff like I had ie one of the pants had on them - low fire resist, extra hp on healthglobes, small hp regen and 6% gold find. This costed me 80k or so to make, really blizzard? I wouldnt wear this if this even if it was lvl15 item with same stats.

Dang this thread has shot up since I moved house ><

They done much to the game since Sunday? Jumped onto my DH today in Nightmare and the droprate for Pages seems to have gone up massively.

The Blacksmith is just the same as drops. Completely random. If you could guarantee an amazing item then everyone would be using blacksmith stuff. The AH is the only place where you can guarantee the armour you get, but the best gear will have a massive premium in that case.

has been quite a lot of hotfixes, not heard anything about increased drop rates though

Huzzah, managed to pretty much sort the FPS problem out :)

A mix of no checked FPS limits / no V sync / changing some text file thing and fullscreen windowed mode with lowest settings and where it was dropping to less than 10fps now its going to about 30, which is playable :) shame im off to work now ><

i know the CPU is lacking, but i have a 6 month old GFX, the RAM was pretty top notch when i got it last year, being able to play SKyrim with mainly high settings, a game like diablo really shouldnt prove problems, never mind, will plod on to 13 with them all and see if i still fancy spending lots of beer tokens on it :p

Anyone wanna help me kill Butcher in Hell?

I was fighting him for ages getting him down to like 1/10th of his health but then my old girl came into my room and i died literally half inch away from getting the healing thing.

Apologies if you used to play D2, but D2 gambling was even worse. You effectively paid the highest price possible for a randomised item, which could be blue, or set or rare etc, and had completely randomised stats (according to the item's rules ofc). Crafting here isn't crafting, it's a variation on gambling.

It'll be worth it for that one time you roll perfect stats. If you ever do. And then you have to decide to keep it, or sell it ;)

The blacksmith to me seems to be a form of gambling. You might get lucky and score a killer item on your first roll, or it might suck up masses of funds and materials.

Finally got some traction in act 2 inferno, just about to hit up Belial so I can see a death filled few hours ahead!

Got myself a new helm earlier, immediate 1k health upgrade but losing 200 dps. Had a socket though, decided to put a +13% Life gem in it, turned into 8k health :D Now sitting on a pretty 69k HP. Nice drop really, from Act 1 Inferno. I still think that some of the best rares are under level 60, "perfect" or near enough stat wise on a level 52 item for instance is better than something half decent on a level 60.

Aye, I've given up on the Blacksmith. The cost of creating a level 60 rate is 52k, which is insane given how random the stats are and you'll have to salvage about 20k more worth of random blues to get the materials.

Good luck with Belial!

Hmm, fair enough. Just I went through to killing the Queen Aranae (sp?) before I moved and hadn't got that many Pages, and now I've just done to the end of Act I and they were dropping all over the place. Hell some elites/champs/chests/goblins were dropping multiple at once.

Finally beaten Diablo on my Level 31 DH on Normal mode. Didn't expect Act III and IV to be so short. It's so easy as DH; stand back and shoot. One of my mates is going to join when his exams finish, and I'm going to start another char to level together. Might go for Barbarian.

Hydra is 1 of those skills that adds great damage so long as you can get the enemy to hang around in its area. It just lacks any sort of burst damage or noticeable effect on regular foes when you're pounding it with other skills.

Just killed the Butcher on Nightmare with my DH and I'm pretty sure the Sentry Turret added a fair amount of damage overall just because it was constantly firing whereas I was running around trying to avoid him and the firepits.
