Why not to play public hardcore games:

http://i.imgur.com/Uwp0X.jpg

Some high level guy (level 51) is going into nightmare games and luring packs of elites into town, so when people return to town or connect to the server they get owned and lose their character.

Yeah, not a good idea...

I mean look at the res they're playing at... Shameful.

If I stay up tonight, I could probably clear Act IV... Just entered Arreat Crater.

I only just found out that holding down left mouse button will auto attack. But which is faster? Clicking or holding down?

holding obviously, also just in case people do not know, when you hold shift + mouse1 or mouse2 it attacks while standing, so that you don't have to target the enemy to shoot at it.

Where did you get the info that lifesteal gets scaled down on inferno? I've seen many times getting healed for 1.5-5k with just 2-4% ????? I do massive crits tho as I have +300% crit dmg but still. I don't stack lifesteal anymore but even having like 2% I see massive heals sometimes, the -80% seems like an amount taken out of an ***.

Back to square one with my Barbarian again. Act 1 inferno is so faceroll it's actually quite tedious. Farmed some good gear, probably put a good ~15 hours into farming. I think I've got good gear for act 2.. NOT. Getting my backside handed to me so bad its horrible.

No idea what to do.

Same with my Demon Hunter. I've been gearing vit and dex, but two hits and that's it. Very quickly. In a party with other people it just takes so long to take down normal enemies let alone champ packs.

The curve is ridiculously steep.

Are you sure the heals aren't from skills/health orbs/templar?

I have no idea whether it's scaled down or not, so I'm not saying it is those things, but I think the Templar's heals especially should be around that sort of number.

Give it a try with no skills that heal and without a pet and check what the numbers are :).

Edit: Apparently I quick replied instead of quoting you Phoenix :p.

Some sad act Diablo stream on Twitch last week.

I'm not sure... Clicking seems faster to me.

Clicking was actually faster in the beta, noticeably so.

Unsure if they fixed this though, tried to ask jay and bash on twitter but didn't get anywhere.

Edit - life on hit is amazing for melee, my monk with a shield has over 2 attacks per sec before the skill speed modifiers, really need to stack some more.

Currently I am failing to see the point of continuing to play. They haven't simply made Act 2 Inferno more difficult, they've just changed the numbers to ridiculous amounts. There's no real variation or step-up in AI or challenges, just...more numbers. For such a hyped up game, it's frankly disappointing.

The disparity between Act 1 and Act 2 is so massive that it goes beyond gearing. I have pretty decent gear, maybe I need more intelligence or resistances? Take a hit on DPS for more resistance? More VIT? I have 28k HP as a Demon Hunter and 31k Damage. I just can't survive. Killing mobs isn't the problem, but having to avoid every single attack, especially after they nerfed SS is not only very difficult, but it's very boring.

So what now? Farm Act 1 with the faint hope something slightly better might drop (which won't actually bridge the gap), farm for gold so I can buy legendaries and set items so I can actually get to the point where they might actually drop - if that's even how it works in Inferno and it's not still just rubbish random loot tables (which I still maintain works against the longevity of the game for pure frustration).

What now? Roll another character and just do everything again with different skills? How fun. By creating a very short game, recycling just about everything, randomising all the loot, tacking on extra difficulties instead of actually making a deeper longer game (yes I know it's part and parcel of the Diablo series, but that doesn't excuse the shoddy story, characters and length of the game), very little variation in boss fights and other challenges, trivialising boss fights by making them easier than elite mobs (why aren't these mob packs the leaders of Hell?), a frankly pathetic ending to the game, and generally poor service.

Now, I've plugged 60 hours into the game and I've enjoyed them simply for the pew pew and initially the excitement of loot drops etc but I'm kind of losing hope.

What am I doing wrong?

Huzzah, managed to pretty much sort the FPS problem out :)

A mix of no checked FPS limits / no V sync / changing some text file thing and fullscreen windowed mode with lowest settings and where it was dropping to less than 10fps now its going to about 30, which is playable :) shame im off to work now ><

back from work and its dropping to below 10 again, ugh ><

First of all life on hit is only on rare items (yellow) it is very scares attribute to come by.
Second of all, lets take the highest % I've seen which is 3%. If your dps is 16.6k or higher than it is better to get 3% life steal than 500 flat on hit. *IF* there are no diminishing returns.
Third 3% is the highest I've seen while life on hit goes as high as 1k I've seen on AH.
As for you large heals, you need to make sure your buffs/skills are not mixing up.
Massive heals (when something crits) is irrelevant to a tank on inferno, mobs hit so hard that you need constant stream of health. So crit heals % are irrelevant when mobs hit for 15k. What is important is the average stream of healing.
Also im not sure if you realize but life on hit and leech both take individual mobs/hits into account so both heal for massive amounts if you aoe.

So far life leach has it advantages and life on hit has advantages, as a tank/melee in diablo 3, life on hit takes the lead as the preferable stat. (prices reflect that lead on AH where leech is cheap as dirt while life on hit goes for millions)

So even if we forget about diminishing returns of leech or life on hit the better one is the one that gives you most heals per hit from your dps on character sheet. ie which is better 3%*Dps on character sheet > = < X life per hit.

So to sum up the answer, no life leech is not flat out better in fact going from AH prices life on hit is valued far more. Going with logic the stat that is better for you depends on *you*.

As for nerfing for higher difficulties, scan the net see what people say. So far consensus seems that life leech is scaled worse than life on hit.

Well from my understanding repetitiveness and loot is what diablo all about. I am going through the same thing as you, I re-balanced my skills, got the gear so that I can easily defeat anything in act 1 on inferno but still struggle quite a bit in act 2, I can progress but I can not kill a rare pack so that makes me feel that I need to farm more gear but I don't particularly want to farm anymore.

So I think I will be stopping playing now, unless I am extremely bored. Can't be bothered with making another characters and can't be bothered to farm, so I guess I got my monies worth out of this game.

Anyone know why my multiplayer quest progress isn't matching my 'single player' progress?

With my Demon Hunter, if I resume my game on my own, I can go to Act3, Quest 2, which is where I got to on on a multiplayer game the other day.

However, if I do "Search for Public Games" it'll only let me go as far as Act 2, Quest 9?? Not had this problem before....am I missing something really obvious?
