What film did you watch last night?

Saw Avengers for the second time on wednesday, just as awesome if not more so due to noticing more of the subtle jokes etc, then watched Never Back Down on the train last night (mainly for amber heard <3) :D

Surrogates - A big fat meh out of 10.

To be honest, it really needed a kick in the teeth ending to give the film any substance. As it stands, it was generically naff.

Even Brucie couldn't save it.

As a big SCi-Fi fan I enjoyed it a lot. Not for the story of character build up (lol), but for the genre.

I watched Bad Ass. It was rather funny in places with kicking ass everywhere else. It's based on this:

Certainly not as bad as I was expecting it to be from the trailer.

Ghost Town.

I normally hate Gervais, but he's nicely understated in this one. Plus, always nice to have a reason to look at Tea Leoni. Been in love with her since watching Deep Impact as a hormonal 18 year old.

Watched Snatch last night and Lock Stock the night before. Amazingly I had never got around to seeing either of them before now

Lock Stock 8/10
Snatch 8.5/10

Really liked that they were well under 2 hours long - no filler in either of them.

Watching them both again recently, I found that Lock Stock was every bit as good as I remembered, but I thought Snatch seemed poorer in comparison.....maybe a bit forced. First time round I probably thought Snatch was better(just for the fight scene with ****in" in the bushes playing in the backgound) Epic scene!

Snatch just edged it for me - it made me laugh on more occasions than Lock Stock :)

Same for me for a few reasons.

The 3 black guys were hilarious. Brick Top was great and Brad Pitt truly showed that he is a fantastic actor by so easily slipping into a role of a type of person which he never would have even come across before.

Oh and special mention to Boris the Blade.

I saw Snatch for the first time last week and thought it was great (8/10). However, it was soon eclipsed by "Snatch Wars" on youtube. For those who haven't seen it, it's a simply brillaint cut of Vader's classic scenes with Brick Top's vocals over the top. Literally had me crying with laughter.

Watched Battle Royal last night. 8/10 ish.

I really enjoyed it. I didn't quite understand the ending but I did fall asleep (not 'cos I was bored, was just very tired!). So will have to watch it again.

From reading the Hunger Games a while ago you can definitely see which bits she pretty much copied in her books!

Beginners - 5/10

I really thought I'd enjoy this. I've been a fan of Ewan McGregor's work for a long time and Melanie Laurent's performance in Inglorious B******s was good but this really bored me. It felt like the director was being self-indulgent. Trying to be arty. A poor man's Wong Kar Wai. It's well acted I guess but the characters weren't very interesting and McGregor's horrible American accent is offputting. Avoid this.

The avengers - 5/10

Thought it was thoroughly average. Most of the scenes on the flying ship were utter tosh and boring!

John Carter -9/10
