The tooltip doesnt take into account dex on a weapon. You need to factor it in yourself. It DOES however factor attack speed % and crit chance/damage. Bear this in mind when looking at upgrades :)

I know that but the dps on the weapon is worked out based on damage & attack speed and the hand crossbow was only slightly ahead in that respect. I only have an 8% crit chance so it surely can't be that (combined with the attack speed) that is greater than 132 dex surely?

I presume your playing as DH :p From what I have found is 2h bow with quiver is by far the best setup you can use at the moment.

With the Archery passive skill you gain 15% extra dmg done. Compare that with a xbow which only gives crit hit dmg or hand xbow crit hit chance. I've used a mix of xbows and hand xbows. But I have to say I really do prefer 2h bow. It feels like consistently higher dmg.

Unless you are stacking lots of crit hit chance and crit dmg. I really think you would fair better off with a good 2h bow and quiver.

I disagree. Particularly where you say Bow has consistently higher damage. As far as I can tell, bows are the 2 handed equivalent of the Hand Crossbow (with different potential bonus').
Good attack speed and a low minimum damage giving it a lower average damage but higher attack rate.
Crossbows get a considerably higher average damage at the cost of attack speed and I don't think the 15% from Archery will make up for it.

As for my passives, I'm using Custom Engineering (12s Caltrops <3), Steady Aim and just unlocked (and tried out) Sharpshooter. I was using Cull the Weak instead of Sharpshooter. Listed dps is largely irrelevant as I spend most of my time (just got to Act 4 Nightmare) moving constantly in between shots and placing down Caltrops/Spike Traps so getting the maximum damage per hit tends to be better. Particularly when Sharpshooter reaches 100% crit and I can quickly fire off 2 Multshots and crit everything in the area twice :p

Just got my first set drop in Tal Rasha's Guardianship. Crappy stats though, although due to the attack speed increase it actually provides more damage despite having no dex compared to the 100+ I have on my current chest piece. (but no +discipline unfortunately)

Put it up on the AH, although I doubt it'll go for more than 500k tbh.

I've got a barb that pretty much geared as much as I can without spending like 50m, Act 1 inferno is a joke. I can kill three groups of elites at once on top of each other, regardless of the combination. I can pretty much kill Butcher in half MF gear without any trouble.

But then I go to act 2.. and even with my best gear I struggle to kill elite packs and some are just downright impossible. Waller+Fire Chains+Arcane+Molten it gave me yesterday. How the hell do you do that as a Barbarian?

My resists are pretty decent. Approaching 700 in all, but I just fall over like a poorly built card castle.

Should I reroll or is inferno just ridiculous atm? I've seen a barb solo diablo inferno but he has like 100m in gear.

Right I bought the game from Blizz last night just so I could play with Steedie. Damn my impatientness!

Do I still get my two guest passes with the online edition?

its blizzards idea of balancing thats the issue, every class is struggling. (wait till act 3 lol)

I got the part where you need to find Kulles blood then took a break. Finding it very hard to even keep valor stacks up, and thats with a lot of deaths and hoping things don't enrage.

Meanwhile, wizards just kite everything and don't get hit. My friend dinged 60 yesterday and is already well into act 2. Think hes struggling with Belial but that's further than I've gotten even while being geared!

Another thing that drives me mad is you lose NV stacks when swapping skills. Handling different elite packs isn't so bad if you can swap skills to counter their abilities. Swapping to leap for wallers, charge for others etc. :(

I counting down the days until payday so i can get myself a copy of this game.

I have played the trial and its making me want to get the full release so bad! God damn you Blizzard!

what do you guys think about Gem Artisan, theres little way to make money here?

It costs hundreds of thousands of gold to create a gem that will have +1-2stats than the lower ones used to make it. Even if you have the gold to make one, it's not going to sell most likely due to the pitiful stat difference.

It's seriously not worth dropping the gold on anything higher than probably one above flawless square.

Yeah thats the conclusion I came to as well.....they should seriously look at making those elite tier gems way stronger.

Flawless square ruby = Other: +34 Strength.........cost 5000 gold
Radiant Star Ruby = Other: +58 Strength.............. cost 1 mil

Just doesnt workout, renders the whole artisan thing a waste of time, quite annoying as this is of resonable importance of the whole game experience (well it is for me anyways).

I've barely trained the Jeweller but got a mate who had trained him to upgrade all my gems for me and it still cost 70k+ and all of my gems collectively are still probably worth less than that on the AH. Absolutely no reason for the jeweller. Decent gems seem to drop often enough anyway and people can just use the AH to get them cheap.

Radiant Star Ruby is the best possible one? I can't remember, at work :p

1m for the best possible gem isn't toooooooooooo bad (I thought it was more), but it's still an awful lot of money if you want one of those gems in every socket.

they don't offer that much more in terms of stats over other, much cheaper gems. which I think is the main issue with the gem system, they're close to useless

People moan when its easy, people moan when its hard.

Aye this bugs me.

I love the fact that inferno is impossible. Which frankly, it isn't, because some people have done it.

Blizzard have got some major issues with this game. Can they never get anything right?
Now the AH has stolen 150,000 off me. What next?

You'll get it back. Eventually. But the AH does bug me too. I want them to get it sorted. (hence my raging last night xD)

kd

Everyone knows that the AH is buggy and in need of fixing. Yet people still continue to use it with vast amounts of money. And then complain about it?!

So yeah, do I get any Guest Passes with my digi download copy from Blizz?
