Why Do People 'Hate' EA? - Seriously? What is that all about? We asked EA.

Because maxis, bullfrog and Westwood. There is a difference to buying a company and keeping it going while making good games and the utter *******isation that went on when Ea touched a company.

Pretty much.
As well as Bioware
They wreak developers and their games, charge stupidly absurd prices, trash talk Valve/Steam, proclaim Origin as amazing when it is actually rubbish

EA's customer service is the worst I've ever seen, I contacted their support because Need For Speed The Run would randomly freeze and crash without any sign as to why.
The man who I can only assume was from the middle east judging by his name and accent gave me this advice - "please be changing your browser and reboot" then hung up on me.
Those were his exact words, now I'm not racist, far from it, but you'd think if your customer base is English speaking you would hire people who can understand and speak English fluently to stop any confusion and most importantly, Annoyance.
If they improved their customer service I wouldn't have a single problem with EA.

they do the exact opposite of what everyone wants.
Call companies bad for doing stuff that everyone loves and always ALWAYS trying to get more money for something awful

Electronic Arts: Dead Space 3 will be more action-packed in order to appeal to a broader crowd.

In other words, do you prefer a mind-blowing niche experience or a more casual experience that would appeal to more gamers? Well, we’d take the first one any given day. After all, that’s why we love the Amnesia games. Imagine if Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs featured co-op with guns and other features to appeal to more gamers. Yeap, it would be awful for its original fans. And in this particular case, Electronic Arts is interested in their revenue instead of the gaming experience. And that’s what is really disappointing here!

That's EA in an nutshell, taking once amazing games/franchise's on PC and ruining them for mass market appeal to scrape a few more pennies together. Such choice Favourites that have had the EA touch of casual death are dragon age, crysis, mass effect, BF3 and now dead space 3, plus many more. EA are scum.

EA president Frank Gibeau says that Dead Space needs a number of players roughly equivalent to the entire population of Norway to justify its continued existence. “In general, we’re thinking about how we make this a more broadly appealing franchise, because ultimately you need to get to audience sizes of around five million to really continue to invest in an IP like Dead Space,”

Posted that in the Dead Space 3 thread earlier and sums up why I dislike EA perfectly.

They dumb down games to be more appealing to sell more, if the game doesn't sell to their very greedy standards they bin it, ******** they need 5 mill to continue the title, that's just pure greed.. Bioware is dead, like other companies bought by EA, ever since they were bought key members have left or been laid off over the years, it's just EA marketing brand name now. I remember when buying Bioware games wasn't a thought, you bought it and it was gold, now I don't go near them and haven't bought anything since MS1, DA1.

Does EA still do that silly thing with time limited downloads? I remember when I purchased battlefield 2142 and the installer on the EA downloader was said to only be available for 12 months, after which I would need to buy the game again to download it.

Mainly for ruining C&C and Westwood but for Maxis and Bullfrog too. It's just about making loadsamoney and pleasing greasy shareholders like most big, faceless companies I guess. They probably do get some unwarranted flak compared to other size-able companies in other sectors but I have no sympathy.

There's loads of reasons to hate this ****stain of a company.

1. They shut down online servers for games after just a year, or if the game is an annual release, only the latest release will be open
2. Their excessive DLC, much of which is actually content made during development of the game, but cut out and held until later release for more money - or even on the same day of release!
3. Continuous buyouts of smaller studios which get shut down before their time
4. Constant re-releases of the same game every year (FIFA, Madden, and Sims comes to mind) with little to no improvements
5. Higher than normal RRPs for boxed games, and far higher pricing on Origin compared to Steam and D2D
6. A typical 'me too' attitude when it comes to copying popular games by other publishers that is totally shameless (Medal of Honor/Battlefield copies CoD massively, FIFA has been nicking PES features year by year, their RPGs and MMORPGS all copy Warcraft)
7. Online passes cutting off content for second hand gamers, such as Mass Effect missing characters, this affects renters, people who borrow games and second hand buyers and the like
8. EA's DRM is some of the worst in the industry; you have a 5 install limit and always-online only practice on some games, only Ubisoft is worse than EA for this sort of thing.
9. They treat their workers like ****, with 60 hour weeks - unpaid - and anti-union practices

EA is unique in the industry that they do so many abhorrent and horrible practices in one go. Most developers and publishers stand out for doing one or two bad gimmicks, but EA is the king of mediocrity.

Peter Moore is a ****ing shameless liar when he claims they don't huddle around in a dark boardroom, collectively dreaming up different ways to squeeze every last penny out of our wallets. They would mug you in the street if they knew they would get away with it.

I personally hate Activision more than EA.

Activision sucks but only because they keep making the same CoD over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and etc

But they're still nowhere near as bad as EA.

1. They shut down online servers for games after just a year, or if the game is an annual release, only the latest release will be open how else do you encourage people to buy your new version?
2. Their excessive DLC, much of which is actually content made during development of the game, but cut out and held until later release for more money - or even on the same day of release!not the only company that does this, are EA much worse?
3. Continuous buyouts of smaller studios which get shut down before their time agreed
4. Constant re-releases of the same game every year (FIFA, Madden, and Sims comes to mind) with little to no improvements if you make it, people will buy it. So why not make it?
5. Higher than normal RRPs for boxed games, and far higher pricing on Origin compared to Steam and D2D activision are FAR FAR worse for this. Check the RRP for every CoD release recently.
6. A typical 'me too' attitude when it comes to copying popular games by other publishers that is totally shameless (Medal of Honor/Battlefield copies CoD massively, FIFA has been nicking PES features year by year, their RPGs and MMORPGS all copy Warcraft)please correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't MoH previous to CoD? And WoW/Blizzard are terrible for copying other MMO features!
7. Online passes cutting off content for second hand gamers, such as Mass Effect missing characters, this affects renters, people who borrow games and second hand buyers and the like far be it for the creators of something to try and get a cut of the huge second hand games market that directly effects new game sales?
8. EA's DRM is some of the worst in the industry; you have a 5 install limit and always-online only practice on some games, only Ubisoft is worse than EA for this sort of thing. only come across one game with the 5 install limit and that was five simultaneous installs/active devices?
9. They treat their workers like ****, with 60 hour weeks - unpaid - and anti-union practices loads of businesses treat their workers like **** with unpaid but mandatory overtime, tight deadlines that can only be met with more hours etc.

EA is unique in the industry that they do so many abhorrent and horrible practices in one go. Most developers and publishers stand out for doing one or two bad gimmicks, but EA is the king of mediocrity.

Far be it from a BUSINESS to think of ways to make money?!?!

Pretty much all the negatives said by people in this thread have said it all...

This company is the destruction of all that is GREAT

Oh and Raven, take a look what they are doing to Dead Space 3 now :(

EDIT : They also use Indian tech support to save money!

I just don't like the way I was forced to install Origin so that I could play Battlefield 3, when it was clearly not needed. If EA had made Team Fortress 2 they would have shut the servers down years ago to force everyone to buy Team Fortress 3, that is the reason I dislike them.
