After getting boosted past Ghom yesterday, I was able to finish off Act 3 Inferno on my Barb :)

I went back and tried him after, but the best I could do before the gas killed me was 1 million HP left, so I need some more DPS to kill him or I could just try and lame him until my WOTB is up again.

To kill champ packs I needed WOTB every time, and to kill the normal packs I needed to use Ignore Pain a lot more (even that that was not enough when I had a screen full of phase beasts :P).

I reckon with some better gear it will start to become more profitable to farm Act 3 again over Act 1. The best thing about Act 1 is that you can do it very fast and get a lot of drops, but on the same token it's rare to find anything worth selling because you've got the chance of the item being a good iLvl, then being rare, then actually being good!

Act 3 will be good if I can guarantee a champ pack kill every 2 mins or so with WOTB.

Evil - if you're on later we can do a couple more runs if you want? Also there's a hat I really want but can't quite afford, maybe you could lend me some in game cash? :)

Ghom is indeed a pain in the backside to kill, can do him on my DH easily enough but it requires using every last inch of the room. It's obviously a bugged encounter, 4 minute enrage timer yet the room fills with gas in around 1 min 30s so its an insane DPS race.

Yeah I'm wondering that too, but then I'm only on nightmare difficulty act 2 at the moment. Am I really slow cuz it took me like 3 hours to beat act 1?

Also is there any point buying anything in the AH before I'm closer to level 60? I'm lvl36 at the moment.

Who boosted you through Ghom? :p

And would he be willing to do the same for me? :D

Hmm I mean boosted in the lightest possible term, basically we did the quest to kill Siege Breaker and then I could select that quest and therefore skip Ghom entirely. I do want to go back and fill in the gap when I can actually kill him though.

I'd be happy to help you kill Siege Breaker if you want though? would have the same result.

Yes there is, you should at least upgrade your weapon to one with better DPS every few levels or so. Just limit your max buyout price to a few K and you will get a nice cheap upgrade that makes levelling much easier.

Yeah sure. Just got my presentation topic for my second interview so gonna have to put some effort into that so I should cut down on my D3 :p Couple of runs later if I get something done will be a nice break though.

And if you have to loan money it must be a good helm ><

Pretty much. It usually costs me more to take the Radiant Square Ruby out of the old weapon than it does to buy the weapon itself. For WD I've been keeping an eye on weapon, offhand and mask to try and keep my damage and mana regen high.

To those who are struggling with Inferno, I am doing some act 1 speed runs as the elite packs are closer together and I am more than happy for people to tag along.

I play a tornado spec so I bypass normal mobs and zerg elites... so keep up :D

It is a great helm :)

I will of course pay you back shortly if I actually win it, but by then it might be over whtat I have + what you can loan me :D

Got 9M at the mo so whatever you can give me on top will be great, auction looks it's ending around 19:30-20:00 so I will be on before then.

The big issue I have with act 3 at the moment is the loot is terrible. Getting level 52 items off exceptionally tough elite packs is beyond a joke.

This is the problem I have with it at the moment too. After an initial rage at the changes in 1.0.3 I decided to give it 1 more shot and re-geared my DH with a lot more resist and vitality. I'm at the point where I can kill Act 3 packs relatively comfortably but it takes too long to down them and they really have nerfed the droprates in Act 3 so far as I can tell.

All this encourages bottom feeding as I can just run around the maps in Act 1 ignoring anything that isnt an elite and MF gear swapping to guarantee masses of rares for 0 risk. Sure, most of them are rubbish but the sheer volume means I will hit paydirt more often than chancing it in Act 3.

You should be rewarded for playing at higher difficulties but at the moment (for me anyway) its just not worth the concentration levels and apm needed to kite/stutterstep a pack for 2-3 mins when I can faceroll tank any Act 1 pack dead in 10-15 seconds and potentially get exactly the same loot.

Spent a fair bit on RMAH and get owned a fair bit still in act 3 on the first quest.
30% chance to block, 700-850 res to all, 9K armour ( health is low at 30k ) and 13.5K DPS

I have string of ears (15% less damage from Melee) and a Stormshield (5% less from elites and 4% less damage from normal mobs I think)
