*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Do I not need an invite for Google Music?

Music store purchases are not available in the UK. However the service is easily accessible.

Simply log into your google account through a US proxy once and navigate to https://play.google.com/music/ download the music manager app thingy, after that your account will be activated for ever more with no need for a proxy. Works like a dream for me.

Do a search for the google music android app online and sideload it onto your devices.

Mate i think u need some rest. go to bed and wake up tomorrow fresh and ready to post some meaningful stuff in this thread :)

cya my friend.

Thanks for the tip, glad you're looking out for my best interests :o

I'm sure there is a better solution than Google Music at this point, though I'm not sure what it is off the top of my head. I guess it depends if you want to have all your content in the cloud or have it pulled from a home server.

Holla at ya boi ;)

lmfao

Google music is actually really intuitive, I recommend people try it before writing it off. Once your library is uploaded to the cloud the various apps easily allow you to make music available offline on your devices by storing the music on the device. This includes any variation of albums/artists/playlists.

It keeps everything synched really well and you can easily switch out albums in a matter of seconds with a couple of clicks in the android app. I'v been using it for about a week and thus far I'v been really impressed! :)

managed to get there through a proxy. Downloaded music manager and am just uploading some tracks to the cloud. Fingers crossed it works.

That is disappointing- is that a software or hardware limitation?

What is the reason Android sometimes still stutters on certain things like scrolling (even on the GS3) - whereas WP7 and iOS is soo smooth and stutter free.

SOMEBODY MUST KNOW THE TRUE ANSWER TO THIS!

IOS was not stutter free and smooth for me on an iphone 4 (granted things may have changed)... It was more responsive to touch but app opening and switching sometimes lagged.

IOS was a very smooth (best) experience in terms of smoothness but there were quirks in that too.

Staying out of this android VS apple argument! :D

:p

There is no argument.

We have Ol!ver saying he feels iOS is a bit smoother and refined in general compared to Android. His saying that is based on having the HTC One X, which is a top of the line phone so is a fair benchmark in that respect. He hasn't said it's bad or anything. That is a perfectly fair comment, you can't try every single device out there and they are all setup differently so people are going to have different experiences.

Then we have jonney who is calling him all the names under the sun and accusing him of being an Apple fanboy just because he made an observation that plenty of other people would agree with.

A very odd and frankly pointless discussion! :p

No offence to jonneymendoza, but he does have a habit of flying off the handle a bit, and the way he writes his posts often misrepresents his position.

Frankly I think you're all just jealous of BlackBerry owners! ;)

BlackBerry X is a matter for another thread entirely :)

Grab the Music apk from this link, upload it to your device via USB, make sure you have your phone set to allow non-market installs and then simply click on the apk using a file manager to install it.

Google Music APK

Or just navigate to this thread on your phone and click on the link to download :p

Update: We received some bogus information on the MHL. We've now confirmed that the Nexus 7 does not support MHL, meaning there's no way to connect this over HDMI to get video output.

That's a deal breaker for me. I was going to get one of these but I'll just have to wait for something else.

No way to connect a tablet to a TV = FAIL :(

As a related tip, Dropbox is your friend here. Save files to your Dropbox and install them from there.

Cheers mate. It worked a dream straight from my phone browser. Not sure if I prefer Audiogalaxy though. Don't know if I can face uploading 6000 songs!

Only you can make that call :)

Just upload 5 or 6 of your favourite albums and give it a chance by using it for a couple of days then you can evaluate its worth a bit better.

Be sure to make any albums you do want to listen to on your phone available offline, you do this from within the android app.

Anyone have a guide to setting up a proxy?
