Failure to stop

If you show film taken while the car was moving youre leaving yourself open to being prosecuted for using a phone, be careful of that.

I don't get what happened.

You and another car side by side at a T-junction waiting to join another road and the third party tries to sueeze down the middle of you?

Single lane of traffic on left filtering into a dual carriageway of very slowly moving traffic.

Someone else has mentioned that, so I am not going to show or mention the film under interview tomorrow, only that I could recognise him and give a full description.

Google Maps?

Sounds like you were at fault tbh.. his right of way and all. Did he have damage on his front left bumper/fender? or any further back?

Obviously his bad for driving off, just commenting on the insurance side of things.

So you both travel down the lane, you move right onto the dual carriageay before he does and as a result end up further up the road than him

He then takes exception to this, seeing you as pushing in front of him, accelerates to get back in front of you, and in the process of getting back in front of you barges you car out of the way making contact ?

Correct

I think you're setting your expectations too high if you think a ban is on the cards.

I don't want anyone banned!

The police officer was really nice, took my statement (I wasn't under caution), and advised he has 24hrs from the time of the accident yesterday to report the incident. If he doesn't it will go to Magistrates court, and the minimum they are allowed to give is 5 points.

She did not advise about insurers, do I have to ring them? My excess is not small, and I would rather sort it all out myself.

Err no. It's a non-injury RTC, it's very unlikely that this would get anywhere near court, regardless of whether he reports it or not, especially as you have his details for insurance purposes. It's be different if an injury was involved, but that's not the case here.

I don't have his insurance details...he refused to stop! I don't care if he gets points or not, I'm never going to see the loon again! I just want to get it repaired myself, and move on with my life!

I know exactly what will happen...I will get totally screwed over and it will go 50/50. I don't want the insurance companies involved...even a non-fault claim bumps up premiums!

Give his reg to a claims management company and make them do the donkey work for you. He's also committed a criminal offence by failing to stop, don't let him get away with it.

But how can i prove I was in the lane? I have no witnesses, I cannot prove my position in the lane, I can't prove anything. It has 50/50 written all over it!

I very much doubt a claims management company would even take it on, would they?
