*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

I just checked my email and google play sent me a shipped email for the 8gb version at 7:30pm,hopefully means i will get it on thursday, now i am officially excited :D

And if other people who ordered from google play was wondering i ordered mine on the 10th july.

MAYBE i will post a pic of it when it arrives

One of my uncles has even had a play on one of these now. He's not the most clued up with tech but I was round his earlier today and he said 4 work colleagues in his office all have 'this new tablet' which has just come out recently. I knew it was the Nexus 7, he goes it is blisteringly fast and incredibly smooth. They have an iPad 1 in their house which he uses regularly, but he much prefers the size of the Nexus, he was blown away by it. He knows me quite well and said when you use one, you will 'definitely buy one.'

So, I just need to avoid using one now. :o:p

EDIT: Oh and they ALL bought it from the e-place, a fifth colleague ordered it there and then when SHE got to use it.

Well after reading XDA Forums I'm glad I'm not the only person with OCD tendencies. :p

Their is a 24 page thread of people reporting faults though which is a real shame. Fingers crossed the recent batches have been solved.

XDA is well known for the way people overblow things and then there are 15 pages of angst, blaming one another and then various rounds of Engrish.

Overnight shipping? What is that exactly, 9PM delivery? :p

Mine was shipped yesterday and it's out for delivery today.

I had a weird dream last night. My 7 was delivered but the courier left it on the seat of my motorbike. As I went to get it the bike and the 7 vanished. Sometime later I looked out the window and I could see the 7 on the grass, out of all the packaging, so I went and picked it up.

There was a big crack across the screen and body but it still worked but as I started using it it split in 2. Funny thing was both halfs worked.

A quick spin on things: this tablet is cheap. Very cheap. Cheap as in "at or below cost" cheap depending on who you listen to.

From Google/Asus' perspective, they certainly wouldn't want to end up with a surplus of stock which they couldn't shift. Each tablet unsold would knock a massive dent in any future profits, so they probably made a calculated judgement as to how many would sell, and underestimated it.

A lot of people have said Google should take a note out of Apple's book. Well, for each 32GB iPad costing around $370 to manufacture, Apple will sell for $729. If Google/Asus were making those sorts of profit margins I'm sure they would have kept more in stock and would have been ready to ship more and faster.

Communication could have been better, but overall the situation is pretty understandable considering the amount of demand the tablet has been having.

Am I reading that correctly or does that mean my pre-order (4th July) will not ship until next week...I wasn't bothered before but if that's the case I'm cancelling and ordering elsewhere.

Yea, next week for you matey :-(
