*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

I think people who believe their's are perfect aren't looking close enough, and ofcourse that's fine and the best way to be. :D

Look close and I bet you'll see some screen raise!

Nope none on mine. Had it for a week tomorrow played games and movie's, zero issues perfect device.

I absolutely love this tablet and jelly bean but I am awaiting an RMA process from Google and won't buy another until the screen issues are sorted.

Hope Google UK has learned from its logistics screw up, that Google will implement better QC in the future and that despite both of these they are damn proud of getting such a good product out at an accessible price.

Not even gonna attempt one exchange?

It's worth it, at worst you could send that one back if it's got a problem. You may get a good one, most of them are actually fine.

The guy over at XDA must be wrong then, if their is an actual design fault with the shell of the device, surely every Nexus 7 would be affected with screen raise issue?

What are they going to do with all these peoples tablets that the screen is slightly raised on?

I just got mine today not sure weather to return it now or wait (The screen is raised on left side slightly) Not sure if this will effect the workings of the unit though.

Asus will probably fix them, then use those as warranty replacements in the future.

As much as I really love the tablet, I have no trust for Google customer support on devices.

No email replies to tickets sent through Google play
1 hour wait times on the phone lines only to be escalated to a non responsive department.

I can't be bothered trying to RMA again. I may buy one from a high street store but sadly I wont be going through Google play.

Edit- the other worry I would have is trying to get a replacement under warranty from Google or asus- the Google play support is that bad

The surprising thing is that there is more readily available support for services that they give you for "free" than for a device I paid for!

So Argos say order for delivery on the 30th.
But when I put in my post code and ordered said within 2 days and let me pick Wednesday, so I'm confused.

Still think my idea to go to Argos for returns was the right call though.

Yeah that's why I asked why you went with Argos because their delivery times seemed far away, maybe you should give them a call to confirm?

Also, people are reporting Tesco online for click and collect is a good one to. It gets to the store within the next working day and they'll do a door swap over if your device is faulty.

Cheers

Ha, I didn't think about it that way with the Tesco direct, I was slightly stupid I guess :p.

I'm not too worried waiting on the Argos one, as I don't mind dealing with Argos.

Wonder how the big players like Samsung ect are going to respond to the Nexus 7 now it out, I bet they already thinking up something in the £150-200 bracket that better than the Nexus 7 if not match it.

Has anyone got a working VPN connection?

I just configured mine with a L2TP/IPSec PSK connection back to my home router (Vigor2920). To test it I tethered to my iPhone via Bluetooth to get an external IP address. The VPN connects okay, but after about 30 seconds the Nexus 7 reboots without warning. The Bluetooth tether works fine until the VPN is enabled.
