Hotmail replaced by Outlook.com

Microsoft, die in a fire

Your password can't be longer than 16 characters.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Edit - To login with my Hotmail account I have to only enter the first 16 characters of my Hotmail password....What in the actual hell?! Clear text password storage!?!

Edit 2 - "There's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later."

Edit 3 - Totally broken in Outlook, does not work at all.

Good start!

Damnit. I have a [email protected] address and wanted the same for my @outlook.com alias, but apparently it was taken. Fortunately, because my name can be shortened (I'm a Matthew), I used the shortened [email protected] instead. I'll have to remember that for when I use it in case I accidentally put "Matthew" and get my emails sent to someone else! :p

I just cannot get over how horrible the new site looks... its like I've stepped into 1996, was it designed in safe mode? lol, when I first opened it I felt something I hadn't felt in over a decade, that feeling when you make the wrong choice on the CGA/EGA/VGA/SVGA selection screen :P the whole site has that windows 8 metro look like its optimized for 640x480 @ 16 colours :P (the original 16 colours not 16 million).

take the "0" off the front

had the devs actually tested their software on anyone they would know they need make it easier for people to enter their numbers in international format since 90% of the population will NEVER work out to drop the 0... its not hard for hte software to drop the leading 0 for you.

Nice little touch having the weather on your calendar!
Though not sure if its location aware though, mine goes to London.

Will be a good touch if it was localised!

What year is this?

Ha, you'll be surprised by the amount of people still using it.
When I worked selling PC's it was something I was asked about multiple times "Will it still have Outlook Express?"

So if people already have a hotmail account which they use, probably best just to create an alias right?

Why on earth do people want [email protected]. You will be spammed senses. What do you think people use when they need an email address.

Although I can't be bothered to even type that much, if any one has [email protected], then they deserve to be spammed for not seeing the issue.

Just as likely to get spammed on [email protected] unless you NEVER send any emails to ANYONE.

Why forgo the ease of using your actual name for little to no less spam?

Not forgoing your name, just including last name or similar.

It's not about what you sign upto. It's what other people sign upto using your email as its simple to type and they now it will be accepted. Especially when you have to restyle emails, people aren't going to make [email protected]
They are very likely to do [email protected] or similar.
It's just not worth the hassle.

Also if there's anything you don't like, really do use the report feedback, Ms do Latin an have done 10s of thousands of changes on windows8 due to feedback.

Click the cog and feedback is near the bottom.

Oh, this will be a joy for IT.

Open outlook
Do you mean exchange outlook, outlook express or outlook.com?

Grrr

I would assume anyone using outlook exchange (corporate really) would not be using outlook express (which is now Windows Live Mail, outlook express is not on Win7 and above) and as for opening outlook.com? You would tell them to open internet explorer and then go to outlook.com.
So nar :p
