Olympic Athletics

From the video, it looks like he is in the air for roughly 1 second and travels just over 8 metres.
That gives a take off speed of around 17mph.

Possibly a bit faster, for some of them, if you think some 100m runners have crossed over into long jump.

He was the one that pushed for and got funding for the olympics I think. His actual intention wasn't so much because of the games but because he wanted to get the east end of london renewed.

Ken was mayor when we won the bid but I think Boris has been pretty involved since he became mayor.

Ennis has also confirmed on BBC that she won't now double up in the 100m hurdles.

Shame, she might have nicked a medal but fair enough if she fancies a rest!

I'm just getting a little excited about something I've wanted to do since I was a boy:

Might be best as after the massive high of last night anything less then a win would probaly be a let down for her.

I saw that too, but I can't help thinking that she'll probably regret not having a pop at it later, while she's on form and at a home Olympics.

Could be that she gave everything she had for the Heptathalon and doesn't feel she can give the same performance for the hurdles so doesn't want to disappoint.

If anyone was wondering about Mo's victory celebrations it's all explained here -

AHAHAHAHA!! That's quality! What a lad! I loved watching the finish in slow motion and seeing Galen finish behind him and as he crossed the line you see him shout "MMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". Spine-tingling!

Now bring on the 5000m! Is he considered to be a better 5000m or 10,000m runner?

Well he has more 5000m medals than 10,000m medals, but this was just from a brief look on wiki, I don't actually know what he is better at.

He considers the 10,000 to be his strongest event due to not having as strong a 'kick' as many of the top 5,000 runners - although he has won more in the 5,000.

Watching the marathon now across central London. So many people out there!

@Hamster/simulatorman - so jammy! I would have loved a ticket for any track event. I'm sure you guys will enjoy the atmosphere.

Dare I ask what that was on that runners face? It kinda looked like something out of my *cough* specialist film collection, but I'm assuming it was puke?
