Shamelessly stolen from another forum, but found an amazing video filmed by a guy on Beachy Head of Avro Vulcan XH558 "Spirit of Great Britain" where it's actually flying below his vantage point!

(Was gonna post this in Photography sub-forum but figured that everyone needs to see this!)

Had one of these fly quite low over my house when I was a kid, the noise was so fierce I thought the world was ending.

When I was a kid we went to see the Farnborough air show. We were staying in a camp site close by, and in the couple of days prior to the show we got used to seeing and hearing planes coming in to land ready for the show.

The Vulcan came over at about 7am one morning. We were all asleep in our tent - well, until it passed over that is... I remember waking up to this incredibly loud noise. To say that I "heard" it would be an understatement - it vibrated all through my body, and seemed to resonate around my chest. My Dad said that he woke up thinking that "the end was neigh".

It's hard to overstate just how loud those damn things are! I've only seen it the once, but it's something that will stay with me. Very impressive piece of kit!

It was only here on the Saturday. Could not get out of work unfortunately. Quit work on Sunday. One day too late :( Ah well hopefully next year.

The only reason we had it was because the red arrows were not available but hopefully we can snub them next year or have both :)

Superb. :)

Been lucky enough to see it flying twice, including just a few weeks ago at Farnborough AS.

Shame it's the last one. Are there still a group trying to get another airworthy?

I had the same experience as you expect it was an SR-71, it felt like your chest was being torn open. It was amazing!
