Which is more rude?

If you really don't want it, refuse it. Let someone else have it who'll enjoy it.

For Pete's sake don't waste it on a cat/dog. Besides, it's bad for them...

I'd take one and give it to a street tramp!:p That's street tramp not street lamp! No point giving it to your cat, cats don't eat cake, do they?

"I don't like cake"
"I am trying to be good"
"I've just had a muffin"

I've said all of the above and they are all true. Forget lying, I just tell the truth!

From the sound of things the OP has limited social skills, so whatever he does it doesn't matter as the entire office already thinks he is weird.

Also vote Obama.

Just put your hand inside your trousers and have a rummage with your junk, pick up one of the unwrapped cakes, sniff it, put it back and walk away.

(and is someone who is presumably paid to go into a working environment really concerned by this mind-bending conundrum to the point of seeking advice? that beggars belief)

Can a mod please change the thread title to 'Which is ruder?' please, every time I scan down the list of threads this makes me cringe.

Office envirnonment, someone brings in some nice cakes for the office but you're trying not to be a fat gluttonous pig so you

1) Refuse the offer "Thank you, but no thanks, I've already eaten" or words to that effect.

2) Take the cake but take it home with you and feed to family/pets "Thank you, I've already eaten but I'll take it home for my dessert tonight."

Which is less rude? If you have a better suggestion, fire away.

Oh, and it goes without saying that as a bloke I can't admit to trying to watch my weight.

Who feeds cake to their pets?!

I got offered cake by my manager on Friday. She asked me more then once but I just told her I wasn't hungry.

I didn't consider it rude, I just didn't want a cake.

Still don't understand this office "bringing food in for everyone else" thing

I just say thanks for the offer.
I'm not bringing anything in, I won't bother so I don't feel obligated to.

Very different culture than what I have worked in previously.
