** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

Poor, poor show.

Actually the level of disclosure, the actions they're taking and the advice they're giving all seems excellent. This is exactly how a company should respond to a security breach.

I am assuming that the announcement was a prompt one, however. And that the passwords were stored using a random/unique-salt hash.

A big, high-value target like Blizzard is going to get a security breach sooner or later. The real measure of how well they're doing is how often it happens and how serious the breach is, and how they handle It.

RSA was an example of how NOT to handle a security breach. Sony (PSN) was an example of how to just get everything wrong >_>

Btw, anyone that got told about the thing that Emoss used to make money, I'm pretty broke right now but if you could sign me up to a year with it I could swap some things for it... trust me if you want to know what I can swap (I can say that totalled up everything costs way more than a years subscription to the thing!)

i have no idea what you are on about lol.

Really? That is not convincing to me. Blizzard had no major security breaches throughout my early days playing WoW, when it was easily the single-most popular game in the world. Everyone was playing it, the few who were not playing it were talking about it. No security breaches. I think they've gone downhill as a company, personally.

any1 have an idea about the story line about MOP i havnt got a clue about it and im quite interesed in the final boss like deathwing and litchking etc lol

Not much of a boss :(

Essentially I think the idea of having Garrosh as the end boss is that for a fair few years the player base has been quite verbal about the War between Horde & Alliance in Warcraft has disappeared and they have been fluffy cuddly bunnies working together throughout TBC and WotLK. Cata was supposed to remedy this but just turned out even more of a working together theme park ride.

I believe the idea of having Garrosh as the big bad is that it will satisfy the older player and also help focus their premise for Mists in going back to a more WARcraft feel. Saying that though, what’s the betting that Horde and Alliance will have to work together to remove Garrosh.

This may be asking too much but if they want to get back to the Ally Vs Horde shouldn’t they have a final boss for each faction. It can be the same Raid just different mobs depending which side you are fighting against, even similar mechanics.

That would be a great idea to put forward it could also mean rolling the other faction to see how the other faction lives

The thing being, lore wise nearly everyone hates Garrosh. The alliance want him dead for being a warmonger, the horde want him dead for being a power hungry egomaniac who killed Cairne.

Yeah I suppose to it would make sense but again I am sure that they will 'team up' again. TBH I am not bothered about the lore yes there has to be somthing that brings in the players but I do agree they need to leave the teaming up part of it.

I started the game in WOTLK so its the norm for me!

If anyone needs a scroll of resurection/someone to play with casually, drop me a message. I'm easy going for any server/faction. As most of you know, MMO's are so boring when you play alone haha, forever alone etc etc...

Give this guy a watch, he's live now. This is crazy what he's doing...
Cliffs:
A guy uses 5 PCs which each multibox 9 characters each (a total of 40) and goes round BGs/Tol Barad/Wintergrasp etc destroying absolutely everyone (they're all following his main character, dks pull him in and everything gets burnt within a couple of seconds)
All of his chars have 200k+ honourable kills and his highest he's at like 500k I think....

I've been reading up about it but I don't really "get" what i'm meant to do at L85?

Back in vanilla days it meant starting getting your Tier 0 set together by running 5-mans (Strat/Scholo/BRS/DM) and then taking on Molten Core. But there doesn't seem to be 5-man sets in Cataclysm?

Should I bother finishing all the Cataclysm questing areas or just stop at L85?

And I don't get all this "points" system for loot - is that just for raiding, for 5-mans, or both? And something about itemlevels?

The whole thing seems like complication for complication's sake. What happened to the days of WoW being straightforward?

At level 85, I would suggest working on getting the required item level to be able to do heroics (329). You can find this in your character tab at the top. This would either be doing regular dungeons or working on getting exalted with the factions to buy some of the blue and epic gear. After you are friendly with the factions, you can buy a tabard that you equip. You earn reputation from killing enemies in Heroics and i think the level 85 dungeons.

Once you have 329 item level, you can queue for Cata heroics. Then just spam them until you get enough item level to queue for LFR (looking for raid). I think its around 370.

The way the point system works is:

Justice points are earnt from Regular dungeons when doing the looking for group. When you complete a dungeon with that, you get 125 or something justice points. This effectively buys the last tiers items that were originally from the valor points. You also earn them when killing any boss in any heroic.

You then have Valor points. These buy the "current" set of items. They are at the same item level as the current raid content. You earn this by completing heroics in the Looking for Group tool. You also earn it from boss kills in raids and completing the LFR tool.

Regarding item levels, they have always existed in the game, but only really mattered now. Basically, as new content is released, gear has a higher item level. Its basically how many total stats it has. They have changed it now so when using the LFG/LFR, you need a minimum item level to join.
