** Official World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Thread **

Since GW has no ongoing costs, it's not really possible to directly compare its success to WoW. All fine and dandy selling 5 million copies but if only 1 million of them are actually playing a month later its a whole different story. (Numbers made up of course)

On thing thats close to being certain is that GW2 alone will not be responsible for much (if any) drop in WoW subs simply because people will just keep WoW active while playing GW2 on the side, especially since the hardcore raiding crowd won't be satisifed in GW2 with its lack of PvE raids.

As for the patch date stuff, it's been fairly common for pre expansion patches to be roughly a month before the expansion, just a happy bonus for Blizzard marketing that it happens to be a competitors release date as well this time.

"Hardcore raiding" in MoP.

Thanks for that, my laugh of the day :D

I keep seeing this quoted time and time again by the Blizzard crowd, but with the last drop in sub numbers they directly attributed D3, a non sub game to the drop. If you ask me Blizzard are scared of the impact of GW2 will have, the pre expansion hype around Mists is no where near the previous expansion levels and from what I've seen and read people have been pretty scathing with some of the content in there.

Fairly obvious its a deliberate attempt to keep people playing WoW rather than a competitors title. Any bets on another AP style giveaway end of the year with SC2 and the expansion as a freebie with beta access to expansion?

did i read correctly somewhere that there is farm building or sumit like tht in MOP lol
I believe one of the factions you can gain reputation with has a series of quests that revolve around you making a farm.

We don't really know much more than that atm, it was rumoured to be like an instanced version of farmville initially, but theirs been so few details on it and with the release being so close now i can't see that being true.

yeh fort it was sumit like that i think i read it in a mag ages ago but aint heard of anything in the betas or anything like that. if it is in game now it sud be interesting to see how it is goin to work lol.

Cinematic is released

Such a fan of Blizzard cinematics. Looking forward to Mists of Pandaria, for a casual like myself, the scenarios and challenges are going to be brilliant.

Will probably raid a little bit when I can be bothered, but I have 8 characters to gear up and a monk to level!

Btw, if anyone wants to get on to Kazzak EU realm, I can throw you a scroll over. :)

i am the same i do like them. this 1 isnt the best IMO but still good. they have done well i was wonding how they will do it. i can not w8 for this game now. not long left haha

I'd definitely recommend The Shattering (prelude to Cata) , even if Cata will soon be a thing of the past.

When I got to the quests with Thrall in game it really put everything into place.

e: It also has a fair bit about Garrosh, that'll help for MoP.

Are the books in any particular order or can you just buy any of them?

You can buy any of them, search World of Warcraft book on Amazon and it'll come up with them, they're by 'Christie Golden' and you have to scroll wuite a bit as they're interrupted by laptops, WoW guide books and other irrelevant things.

You've read some of them? What are they like?

i am currently reading day of the dragon and it is rather good (normally i dnt like readying) its good to read and then play the game and think ahhh i remeber this etc. i think because its also a game makes me more interested in books lol.

Read it in two days, just couldn't put it down. For a pre-Cata player (which I was when I picked it up) it certainly went through why certain things happened. (Moira Thaurissan being in IF, Magni getting frozen in stone, Thrall departing, Garrosh becoming new Warchief)

I loved that it featured both factions and the overlap that you get, I also think it sets things up for MoP a tiny bit (mainly people hating Garrosh)

e: Likely going to pick up the Jaina Proudmoore books that's coming out, it's set between Deathwing's fall and start of MoP.
