The Darksiders 2 Thread

Pre-ordered it. Loved the first one. A lot of those issues seem similar to the first game, which had a criminal lack of options. Didn't stop it being epicly awesome.

Pre-ordered and looking forward to it!

It's funny because when I played the first one, I thought it was very boring and simplistic. It took a couple of hours to really get into it, but then I loved every minute of the combat / item tweaking / exploring / secret areas / story.

:D

A friend has it, from what ive seen it looks great.(im assuming he got it none legit so don't ask me im only posting what ive seen)
Didn't play it my self as im saving it for when mine drops on steam :) all i can say is if you enjoyed the first one you will not be disappointed with this one.

Tempted to pick this up but not sure what platform to go for. If I get it for PC do you think it will require a controller to get the most out of it, or will mouse & keyboard be ok? Or shall I just get it on the 360? I'd be interested to see how much better the graphics are on the PC version. Ive heard its not a very good port from console.

Works better with a controller. Some of the menus don't work sensibly with M/KB.

The display resolution is higher. That's about it.

It's awesome, really really awesome. I'd go with the 360 version if you don't have a pad, couldn't image playing it with k/m.

Here's the graphics setting you get to play with - vsync, resolution, that's it. As always, some will take issue with not being able to customize the hell out of the pc version, but the fact remains there are three versions of Darksiders 2 and the pc version is the best looking/performing of the three.

To me it looks pretty great anyway thanks to the art style, sure it could look better if it wasn't shackled by the console versions, but any game could potentially look better when you judge it purely based on technical proficiency.

I loved the original, so I was already sold on the sequel, but I still think this is clearly better in a few ways. There's no slow start for one, they obviously learnt from their mistake last time. More variety in the locations, more weapon options, light rpg elements (levelling, gear etc). The music is also quite good, don't recall ever noticing it in the first one.

They also do something quite clever regarding the character switch between the two games. I don't consider this a spoiler since it's one of the very first things you do in the game, but I'll tag it anyway..

Switching characters between sequels is something few games have done well, Darksiders manages this by making you fight against War within the first 10-15 minutes. Of course it's not actually him within the context of the story, but it's a great way of getting you used to Death for anyone that got accustomed to using War throughout the 20 or so hours of the original. If you had any doubts about being made to switch over to Death, they should go after facing War. It essentially amounts to here's the guy you were used to, now whoop him with this new dude and see that he is every bit as badass.

It's just a great game (as was the first, but this is better) it deserves anyones time, if you missed the first (you're very silly :p) now is the time to give the series a shot. For anyone that loved the first one like I did, I really can't see a way that you won't enjoy Darksiders 2 just as much as I am.

I think war looks better in this than he did in the first lol

Was holding off on this, while I loved no.1, I found that some of the dungeons dragged on for too long. But I've caved in and placed a pre-order

Also noticed this on Penny Arcade today.
