Breaking Bad Season 5 - Part I

Was Walt going to kill Mike no matter what? He took the gun from the bag but only seemed to want to kill Mike after the exchange of words. If Mike had just driven off what would Walt have done? Or if he noticed the gun was gone later? Meh.

Walt knew that Mike would not give up the names of the 9 folk so he did plan on killing him. However he only realised last min that he could have got the names elsewhere. His arrogance and fear got in the way and he never thought logically and was stupid. This could be the start of the downfall of Walt as he never used his brain for a change and was rash in his actions.

The question is who will clean up the mess now the cleaner has been killed, thus creating the mess?

Better call Saul :D

I think a massive cliffhanger next week to set things up for next season/whatever it's called.

Indeed. My guess is Death of Skyler.

Some people are predicting that the pink teddy bear from season three could be a harbinger of things to come....

Ahh, only watched the first few seconds, thought you were posting the actual end of the episode.

What is that music from?
Ah, I see. It's a slight edit of the ending, the music is Curb Your Enthusiasm. I guess it wouldn't make much sense if you haven't seen it.

I knew as soon as the lawyer flipped that Walt had to kill Mike. Someone had to go and I guess it makes sense for it to be Mike.

The bit at the start of the show was interesting; Walt wasn't wearing his Heisenberg hat; clearly it means that his transformation from Walter White to Heisenberg is complete. They are now one and the same. Egotistical, arrogant and apparently completely ruthless.
Yeah, I noticed the hat (or lack of) too. Funny, because a couple of episodes ago he was wearing it in the cars scene with Walt Jr, and I thought it might have ended up the other way round - the hat was going to become an everyday fixture, showing Heisenberg's complete takeover of Walt.

Weird how Jesse has become the moral compass of the show.

He and Walt have effectively switched places in that respect.

I can't wait to watch the entire series from start to finish in a couple of years time, it'll be epic watching it all play out over a shorter time-frame.

I actually wondered about the hat being missing, and I did notice him wearing it with Walt Jnr, I never thought to put two and two together though! I think as said above it shows how Walt is no longer playing a character. He had to play Mr BigBalls when he made the super-poppers for his first boss level, now on what was probably his penultimate boss level, he didn't need his hat, he wasn't playing Mr BigBalls, as far as he is concerned, he is Mr BigBalls.

A good point, well made, and with an appropriate choice of metaphor :p

I'd say you're pretty much spot on. This show has so many layers...

Weird how Jesse has become the moral compass of the show.

I think he's been the moral heart of the show since the whole Tuco thing. He only ever wanted to cook a little, smoke a little, rake in some dough and live things up. He never wanted to hurt anyone or see anyone hurt, so in that respect he's always been the moral heart of the show. He only knocked off Gale because it was either that or face death himself, and we know how that nearly destroyed him.

The thing is, how is Walt going to keep the guys in lock up quiet? Once they find out the game paying them is dead, surely they will want to sweeting their deal on the inside?

I guess this is where Lydia comes in, maybe she knows someone doing time and puts a hit out on Mike's men?

What is Walt going to say to Jesse? "oh hai, I just killed Mike for the lulz, lets cook." ???

Episode 8 is the finale, it has to leave on a huge cliff hanger. Maybe the D.E.A find Mike and then find Walt's finger prints? Walt must have his prints on record somewhere surely?

Isn't that obvious? They're going to hear that someone killed Mike so that alone will put the fear into them. If they talk they'll end up dead like Mike did. I'd be surprised if that's a deduction they didn't make.

Indeed.

There will be a cliffhanger for sure but I don't see it being the DEA figuring Walt out. Aside from anything else I can't see them sustaining the second half of the series with Walt on the run.

Bringing in Todd to do Jesse's work is gonna be his downfall, I think, as others have said. But it's the result of his ego, isn't it? If he wasn't so arrogant he could have walked away like Jesse and Mike did.

I'm still hoping it'll end with the cancer killing Walt, tbh. Seems like a fitting end.

If its one thing I've learned from this show, always expect the unexpected. No matter what we think'll happen, we will be wrong. You just can't predict this show.
