***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

I've been having numerous problems with my S3 (display issues), and the two replacements that I've had have been exactly the same.

Now I'm considering a Galaxy Nexus. The £140 saving is appealing, and if I'm only keeping the phone for a couple of years, updates shouldn't be an issue. Question is, is it a good move? To be honest my usage is mainly browsing, calls, texting, no games or even apps of the sort. My main concern is with the new Nexus device(s) coming out, and the price of those. If they're over £400 (ie. they aren't merely spec-bumps of the current devices), then obviously I won't be concerned as the GNex is dirt cheap right now!

The Gnex is a fantastic phone and great regardless of the GS3/One X etc. It's got the best version of Android and it's well supported by Google/developers alike. It's a pretty capable device so it sounds like for your uses it would be fine.

There should indeed be a few new Nexus devices out in a couple of months. So far I've heard two should be high end and I'd estimate £500+, but there are also rumours that Samsung will release a refreshed Gnex with a 1.5ghz processor and better camera. So it may be worth waiting a bit to see what happens.

Depends on usage. I can get 2 days life with light usage (web browsing, texting), or around 1 day with fairly heavy usage (phone calls, texts, web browsing).

2 days???? I could maybe vet that on the weekend..on normal weekdays thanks to building in which I work and carp reception, I'm lucky if I get it to survive to the end of the day....without heavy usage...

Thanks for the reply. Decided to keep my S3 in the end, as battery life is far better, as well as the fact that even if the new devices use the S4 pro, at least I have a device that is comparably fast for far less (it's unlikely that the new top end Nexii will cost £450!).

2 days is with light usage!! As an example, I charged my phone yesterday afternoon, it's currently got 64% battery left, 18hrs "usage", but only 40 mins or so screen time. Basically it's been sitting there "on", but hardly being used, apart from the odd phone call, text messages and web browsing.

Suits me fine :D

gutted took my phone out my pocket this morning and it was wet, like very wet inside the case and the battery cover, its bugger.. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE WATER CAME FROM!

went to phone4u and purchased a new one, i knocked them down from £370 to £295. started an insurance claim for my wet one and hopefully i should break even.......

LESSON learnt...... don't get you phone wet from mystery water that came from nowhere........confused.com

I had a similar thing with a laptop. A completely sealed bottle of Flash spray somehow leaked into my laptop despite not being knocked over and not being opened.

Just ordered a GNex from ******* for £269. :)

I'm getting an O2 On and On SIM only contract to go with it, 12 month contract, £25 a month for unlimited calls, unlimited SMS, and 2GB/month data. Should be enough, even for use as my work phone. :)

I've never heard of them, are they good? I'm very tempted.

it can be had from amazon for £280, i walked in off the street and purchased one in p4u, knocked them down from £370 to £295 cash.

but then again i was prepared to pay more. i needed one today.

This may be somewhat idiotic but here it goes. I got one of these bad boys off ebay today and it's awesome. Only problem is that I can't seem to get it to update to 4.1.1. Tried a few of the fixes in this thread. Any ideas how i could do this, im a total android noob!

I'm running IMM76K if this is any help.
