My absolute favourite strategy game of all time, and I had a PS1!
Think I have to get this.According to steam it is out 9th October? Is it that far along?

Works out at €34 or £28. I'm not sure it it'll activate on Steam, they say they'll provide a key, so I imagine if retail copies will activate on Steam, this will too.

Thanks for the videos they were great to watch.
I think ill be playing at classic settings and ironman settings on. Sounds like its the true xcom mode.

Those videos were very nice. Put me in the mood for the old X-Com which I proceeded to buy from GamersGate for £1.49 & played it for 6hrs+.

I do hope all the maps aren't that small. Seriously tiny maps from the looks of those vids.

The maps in the original weren't particularly large. It's squad based combat situated in parts of a city / area rather than the locations being citywide.

Or at least it will be if it follows the ethos of the originals.

Yep and it was also dependent on space ship. Small ship, small map. You only encounter small ships at the start of the game as you went on, you hit bigger and bigger ships, which meant bigger maps.

They weren't small, either. In a terror mission you'd have plenty of small buildings, a garage or two, a fuel station, and/or a big block of flats.

I know those preview vids are pretty limited, but they showed all the fighting taking place around a map which seemed to only include a single garage and a truck outside.

Either they didn't show much of the map, or the map was genuinely only big enough to have a garage and a truck, and that was it.

Yeah, but didn't the guy say that was the first mission?. I'd expect the first mission to be fairly limited in size, geographically to gently ease you into the game, as the original did. And as Glaucus said, it's also kinda dependent on the size of the ship you start with, again as the original was. If it was the first mission I'd guess that it stars you off with a kinda 'base class' of dropship.
