Borderlands 2 release date confirmed ( Launch trailer also )

You don't get good guns from vending machines. The enemies seem to hit you with super bad ass guns, they drop them and they suck when you look at them. I'm either dropping people really easily and it's barely challenging or its so hard it's almost unplayable. There's no in between.

Also, I've noticed in boss fight and regular fights that when I have to duck for cover, on random occasions my shields and health suddenly will go down to 0 and I will be in fight for your life mode, hit by something invisible. So frustrating.

You sure you're not getting hit by a constructor missile salvo? They will generally hit you in cover and half the time I don't even see them coming in cover. There have been a few occasions when i was brought into fight for your life mode and I had no idea how it happened, but generally its just missiles.

Sometimes I find myself wishing the cover was a bit higher, I often get stray shots when im in the half height cover and if my turrets not up and i've gone down it doesn't go well for me.

I was under the impression that grenades weren't that strong when thrown by enemies. They can really take you down in one hit?

The ones from the slot machines can nearly do it, add to that you are in battle and probably down a bit on life and or shield.

Anyone found these mean dudes yet ?

Got an awesome orange level shotgun today, 10x180 or something like that but it has a really tight spread which results in a tiny square of death, kinda like Hitler's moustache, when fired.

Cleaning up everything with it!

Thats like saying 'this gun is great except its shock, wish I could remove the shock component'. Its just another piece on the random part rolls that define a weapon. Just something you have to put up with, like that stupid 'Firing increases accuracy' mod on hyperion sniper rifles which makes it useless for the first few shots or burst fire on sniper type weapons.

I kinda agree with what he's saying though, although almost for the opposite reasons, i'd rather all my guns had some sort of scope, just not the uber ones that snipers have, just a 2x crosshair or similar. When i read notes of what was known leading up to the game, i was under the impression that the Eridian bought upgrades were pretty much this, upgrading the gun to do something new, or improving it, rather than just being the backpacks extensions.
That would be my perfect solution for Eridian anyway, its near worthless once you've bought everything, but if you could spend say 4 pieces to increase the element %/dmg, accuracy, something like that, and each upgrade took it up 1lvl so you couldnt make it on equal footing to a lv50 gun but use it at lv40, but you could find a good gun at lv10 and continue using it at lv20 thanks to weapon upgrades.
I guess its tricky with the random element of their generation, but a small increase to all stats would be nice, or being able to swap weapon parts from compatible parts (those which would be considered when generating the weapon) so you could add an element if there was none AND it was possible for the game to have generated such a weapon, or a better grip, different scope, larger/quicker magazine part. Each taking it up 1lvl, so you couldnt get an lv50 gun and make it perfect version, but you perhaps could take a lv47 and customise it, but it wouldnt be as good as the same gun generated as a lv50.

Did a quest last night where i spawned two mutated badass varkid at the same spot next to a respawn point. Only had standerd and corosive weapons, so everytime i die i respawn at the same spot, and the mutated badass varkid where back up to full health.

Ive learnt now and carry more than one tipe of gun.

With my 4 slots, i try and cover each element, on different weapons eg:
1) Sniper - Fire
2) Rifle - Corrosive
3) Shotgun - Shock
4) SMG - Slaag (cant spell it, its auto-censored)

I dont think ive found an explosive weapon ive liked yet, they all feel slow, used to love them in BL1 though. Typically i'd actually have 2 snipers, smg/rifle and a shotty, mixed elements. IMO its best to have 2 elemental variations of your preferred weapon type, its no good having the mech's coming at you, and your trying to snipe them with a fire gun, because it has no real elemental impact, so you switch to the 2nd sniper rifle with acid/elec and tear him a new one. Likewise elemental badass characters, if they're resistant, you have a backup, and 2 other types of guns incase your ammo runs out or the situation requires it.

I'd always go with that setup, rather than whatever the most kickass4 guns available to me were.

Them mutated Varkids are mega hard to defeat on the second playthrough. Took 6 shots with my 50,000 damage rocket launcher and depleted my shields in like 2 hits of its acid.

Yeah they are pretty rough, I made the mistake of what I did the first time around - spawn like 3 at once. Still, wait until you see Badass Varkids or Rabid Stalkers, those things are nuts :p

They were nasty sons o' bitches on my Zer0 the first time through (the mutated Varkids). Was ready for them on my Gunzerker at least. Every time I spawned 1 of them I let Gunzerk rip and blasted them apart. They still took me down half the time but at least I had the 'Gunzerk while downed' skill by then.

I had the same experiences with Axton, I often feel entirely dependant on my turret for the harder enemies if I can't kite or take cover from them. I found the pyro badass threshers to be harder than the varkids though but maybe thats because I didnt have a high damage standard/explosive weapon at the time.
